    Mine was more like a 4 MOA gun, but that may have been me. As for carrying and shouldering, it was, by a huge margin, the worst rifle I've ever owned. Heavier than a tombstone and just dead weight in the hands. I guess we all have our personal likes and dislikes. I'll never outbid you for one of those. They are all yours.

    It would be among a Win 1895 in 30-06, or a Win 1894 in 32 Win Spl. or 30-30.

    I own all three, and while the 30-30 is easier to find ammo for, I always keep a couple hundert 32 SPL rounds on hand.

    The 1894 in 32 SPL is a sweet rifle with a Lyman rear sight, made in 1942. And it's lots easier to carry than the 1895.

    First time I ever fired it with necked up 30-30 brass and a Hornady Flex Tip 32005 bullet, offhand? 33.5 grains H4895 and a CCI 200? Lee factory crimp @cannelure? (About 2261 fps with a 60 FPS extreme spread.)

    A few (I shot three only) went about 1.5" above the bull at 50 yards, dead assed center on the target? A perfect 100 yard sight in.

    I don't shoot offhand often. I'd never made 32 SPL ammo before. This rifle just rocks and rocks.

    ~~~~~
    I'm looking for a GC mold for the 32 SPL. Suggestions?
    I have a few to pick from Uberti .357, Marlin .44mag, pre 64 win. 30-30,1893 marlin 38.55 but I would probably pick the Marlin .44mag if I could only have one.
    44 magnum
    I have levers (Henry) in 22, 357, 41, 44 and 45. I love the versatility of the 44 magnum! I think the 41 is under-appreciated though.
    Has to be 45-70 for me, though my son's great-grandpa's 38-55 is pretty special.
    Then again, 30-30. If Walt Longmire can carry that anywhere, who am I to doubt it...
    Tough choice. I have the classic 30WCF pre-64, Miroku WIN92 in 44 Mag (beautiful rifle but not impressed with its performance) and Henry 357 carbine. I love them all but I am most proficient (speed and accuracy) with the 357 carbine. That being said, I think the 30WCF is a more practical all around cartridge. But I chose the 45-70 because that is the best brush buster and large animal round. I think it depends where you live and lifestyle. If I was living in my home area of south Texas, then I would be happiest with my 357 carbine. Just my biased 2 cents.
    I would chose a 45-70. No shortage of brass. And you never know what might attack while deer hunting.
    Perhaps late to the party but I'm sold on the pre-64 30WCF. I've got a 1911 model 94 that is a dream to shoot. I don't give a **** if it's got a little patina on it. Smoothest rifle I've shot in a long time.
    Fine looking Winnie, I love a little patina on the older rifles.
    Although I dearly love the 44-40 and 45-70, I think the 30-30 trumps all others - especially if you don't reload. Winchester made over seven million of them - all those customers can't be wrong. And that doesn't include Marlin and anyone else who made levers in the same caliber.
    Well... if you didn't reload this past year around here you would of had a hard time hunting as 30-30 ammo was pretty much non-existent.
    Thankfully I do.
    For a compact, iron sighted gun one of the ‘80s vintage Browning Model 1892 carbine replicas in .44 magnum. A late 1894 Trapper in .30-30 would be a close second, but the edge contours of the lever are sharp and would need to be beveled. For serious work a tang safety Savage 99 in .308. For sentiment, a Model 88 in .284, the first rifle with which I ever hunted mule deer at age 12.
    I think it all depends on yuor intended purpose... I didn't see it mentioned anywhere, but for deer size game or larger it is very hard to beat a Browning BLR in 308.. I've owned 2 and the only negative is the sloppy trigger. For an all around small game/ medium size game getter I'd go for a Marlin 1894 with a 24" bbl in 45 colt.
    Another great lever gun would be the old Winchester 88 in 284 or 308
    .38-55 isn’t an option but should be.
    .30-30....the ammo is lighter to carry and more available, good trajectory, and it will do everything that any of the others will do, and sometimes much better. The BLR in .308 has always been a favorite of mine, but it came on the stage too late and I like classics. The 16" Trapper 94' I have has ridden in the truck with me for years and has done everything needed of it, at short range and long. It finally developed a crack in the wrist, so it's retired for the time being. All this being said, I would love a .50-110 with a supply of ammo. The .45-90 is good too, but the .45-70 has to produce too much pressure for my liking to catch up to the larger cases. The .45-90 should replace the little .45-70 altogether as a standard in production rifles. My 95' in .30-40 is another favorite of mine and I'd put it right behind the .30-30 in a 94' as far as usefulness. But if they ever make a .50-110 again, which they should have been producing for the past 50 years, then I'm buying two.
