Kimber 82 .22 LR conversion to centerfire ?

Was wondering if the Oregon Kimber 82 action in rimfire could be converted to centerfire ? They made the .22 LR on the 82 action and also the .22 Hornet . I have always wanted one of the Hornets but the price they bring now keeps me from buying one. I have an 82 in .22 LR and see them fairly often in the $750 range . With the price and lack of quality in the rimfire I have seen lately I'm not much interested in spending money buying more and am hoping my 82 could be converted to a Hornet or a Bee either one . Would like to hear from someone who has tried this . I know that some have converted the Remington 5mm rifles to .22 Hornet with good results .

Sorry, I can’t help you, but it would be an interesting conversion.

Talked to a fellow on another board who knows about such things and he says the locking lugs on the rimfire 82's are much different and won't stand the pressure of the Hornet . He suggested selling my rifle and buying a .22 Hornet or trading for one . Seems my 82 is worth enough to finance a Kimber in .22 Hornet . Guess that will be the way to go .
