How High At Auction Would You Bid This 7.5 Swiss

I was looking over auction firearms at a place and came across one that just said "rifle". Hmmm...that right there is a 7.5mm Schmidt Rubin. Checked when i got home and thats what it is. Decent shape, actually quite good and all the serial numbers match.

Because of the description the current bid is $17. Im thinking its worth a little more than that.

Given the current state of ammo how high would you go? I was thinking $350 as i really am not looking for one but i would rescue a nice old bolt like that from some neer do well.

Pulled the bolt and took a look. Not a dreaded Dremel mark in sight

Walnut or Beech stock? Yeah, if I didn't have two of them (one of each stock) I might look at that. If it is in good shape, i.e. the bore - that is one of the most accurate military rifles going. In good shape $500 would not be out of line in today's market. I haven't checked on ammo lately as I have brass and dies.

The problem with auctions is that near the end prices seem to rise rather quickly.

I bought two 1911 Short Rifles (K11) in excellent shape , bores were beautiful , w / walnut stocks for $19.95 each . The Pushmi-Pullya bolt is sorta wonky but the Swiss sure know how to make , fit and finish things .
I would give $75.00 for one in good condition .

those tend to go a lot higher if in matching good shape, if earlier 1889 ( 7.35mm) a tad less. I'd watch it

If it is a K31 in decent original condition, I see them in the $5-600 range. The G11 or K11's around $400. 1889's go for a bit less where I have been buying them. Very cool rifles, I just scoped a 96/11 and it shoots cast better than my 03a3.

I bought a K31 about ten years ago for $250 when they were being imported regularly. I then bought two cases of GP11 ammo - my son uses it to kill feral hogs. It’s exceedingly accurate, especially for a stock military rifle.

I think this house uses a 2 min window. Stays open until 2min no bid then closes.

Yeah prices go up quite a bit as i noticed. Same place i got my reloading stuff last time. I just set my max and dont get involved in a bid war as ive seen too many people pay higher than new in the excitement.

What im really interested in is the Husky 372xp

Simpson's is currently selling 96/11s and K-11s, for $450-600, depending upon condition. Plain-Jane K-31s were going for $550-$775, depending upon condition, but those are "Out of Stock". K-31s set up with diopter sights for target/sniper start at around $1100 and go up from there. As a frame of reference: about 10-12 years ago, I paid $165 + transfer for my K-31...all matching, 1936 mfg., good+ bore, 95% blue, beech stock, ID card under buttplate. Four or five years later, I paid about the same for a 96/11 in approximately same condition that's all matching except for bolt. Both shoot better than I can hold with 'as issued' sights.

I got a K31 a few years ago when they were going for about $100.00 at the local discount store. Overall it is a great rifle with the best two-stage trigger pull I have ever experienced in a military rifle. Balance in the hand is perfect. The cartridge is about equivalent to a .308 Win/7.62 Nato, and brass is available from Starline. Well worth the price.
