Question on how much do you pay for a pak of primers?

I went looking for some large pistol primers today, had to pay about $4.00 for each 100 pak...how much did they cost you last time you bought some.

That figures about double what I use to pay for them.

Guess the cost of gasoline caused that one too.

I got the last I bought at the gunshow for $29.95 for 1000, but they were individually marked $3.99 so I guess he figures it is worth a buck to open the box and take them out. I always buy 1000 at a time as I do not want to waste gasoline running back and forth.

I usually buy several bricks at a time. The last purchase of 3K were $16.99 each about a year ago, but recently I saw they are up to $28.99 per thousand.

Last year I bought 10k through our range for roughly $100. I bet it's gone up $30 since then.

Jeff, do you think someone keeps bending us over south of the equator?
price in Aussie is about the same - last lot I bought was around A$50.00 so that would be around the US$45.00 mark.
Probably gone up since then petrol hit A$2.00 a litre last week in town.

Here in Sweden it is more:
    Federal 200 SPM US$ 70/1000
    155 LPM 68/1000
    210 LR 71/1000
    215 LRM 84/1000
    Magtech SP US$ 43/1000
    LP 55/1000
    SR 55/1000
    LR 58/1000
    S&B SP 48/1000
    LP 53/1000
    LR 53/1000
    Hornady Gas Checks .30 Cal US$ 52/1000
    .35 Cal 49/1000
so you fellows in US still have cheap prices compared to other places.
    And gasoline is SKR 14/litre here = US$ 2.33/litre.

    Are you still standing?

Holy crap! Sweden is pretty darned expensive and Australia isn't
    real far behind.

I'm guessing that 8 liter or whatever they are V10 Dodge trucks are not
real popular over there. Not to popular here anymore, either.

Current dealer prices for buying 5K is about $22-24/K depending on brand
for Kansas City (middle of USA)

Sorry to hear that your reloading is so much more expensive.

$30.25 per 1,000 for Federal #150's yesterday. The dealer does bring them directly to the shoots for us though.

My oldest son was up for a visit just last week and wanted to do a little reloading (lives in a tiny apt. in the city..loves coming to the "country") At any rate, he went to town and returned mentioning that primers were 14.95/K at the local sports shop. Needless to say, I grabbed the mad money and we rushed back to town. Turns out he was looking at an upside down price sticker...41.95!!! I kidded him about creeping dislyexia (sp) but it doesn't explain how he bought 500 cast .45 bullets for less than thirty bucks...at the same shop!

I've heard the rumor kicked around that the primer/powder situation is directly related to the Iraq war, but I think it's plain 'ol greed in most quarters.....

I wish to thank all of you with the input of post on the various primer prices...which seems to be quite different in certain locations.

Another question please. Is there still a hazmat fee for shipping primers? I would like to know how much if possible...this will determine whether I buy more local, or from some out of state vendor.

    Thanks, Jim

It is running around $23.00 per K localy, I can get a better deal if I purchase mail order but you have to order a lot or getin with a group buy to make the shipping worth it.
