Anyone using Unique in a .260 Remington or 6.5x55?

I've got a surplus of Unique and want to burn some of it up behind a 140 gr. 6.5mm GC boolit in my .260 Remington. Does anyone have experience with Unique in either of these cartridges, good or bad? If it's good, do you have any loading data that you would share. I'm just looking for plinking loads, 16-1800 fps maximum. Thanks for the help!

Thanks Buckshot! I was going to start my load development there and work up by 1 gr. at a time to 13 grs. of Unique. I have a bunch of shotgun powders that I'm discovering are quite useful for cast boolit loads. They'll be used more for this than shooting clays with the price of shot where it is at...

I am using 11 grains of Unique behind a 130 gr. group buy lovern style boolit in 6.5 x 55mm swede loading. Seems to be more accurate than I am with the stock open sights and has a nice report to it.

In a m/96 the Lyman 266469 140 gr Loverin @ .266" using 10.5 grs Unique will produce nearly dead on 1,500 fps. You couldn't ask for a more pleasant shooting load and very accurate.

I use Unique in everything, a dozen or more military rifle calibers. 10 to 15 grs.

    6.5, 7.5, and 8 mm, and .30-'06 -- they all love Unique.

I have to agree with you about Unique. I've had good results with it in my M70 30-06 and a 311241 an 311041. I have a M96 that I need to get a mold for then I will give Unique a try in that as well. I've been at this since the early 1970's and have burned a bunch of Unique.

I went out yesterday and shot my 260 rem, not for groups, only checking for pressure signs. I had the Lee Cruise missle boollits weighed in at between 165 and 170 gr's with GC's. I shot unique loads between 10 and 12gr's with no pressure signs. I will post more about groups as I work on them.

a wonderful powder, and a wonderful way to keep the old ones shooting.

I have a few, and I have a bit of Unique, and bought 3.5lbs of Universal, to get all mine back to shooting.

I'd not be afraid to make meat with a 140gr@1500 over bait, at 35yds... I want to try a Bambi Shoulder slow cooked with smoke in the new BBQ the boss bought for us at work!

My 243 AI and 270 Win both shoot great with Unique. Both are 1:10” twist barrels that don’t like to send a boolit much over 1900 fps with good accuracy. RL7 will work in those big over bores but pressure is low so cases come out all sooty. Unique gets 1855 fps with just enough pressure to seal the case in its chamber. Bores stay clean and since powder charge is smaller I can shoot long strings of fire before the rifles heat up. What’s not to like? I’m using a 122 grain Loverin in the 270 with Unique.

Another with 10 gr Unique in my 6.5-308 (virtually the same as the 260 Rem) but I use it under 129 - 130 gr cast. I use 9 gr in the 6.5 Swede.

BTW; no filler or wad is used.
