Made alot of progress in the shop lately with these dies. I have enough materials for this first run to make a little over a dozen of these 22 cal die sets.

All the point form dies are machined, all the core seat dies are machined, and all the derim dies will be done tomorrow.

Labor cost is staying low as things continue to go well. Might even be able to offer these at a slightly lower price then expected. I plan to send this first batch to nitride processing within a few days.

I expect to set an offer price very soon, probably by end of the week. So far everything is going well and I should be well within my goal to set the initial offer price at least $100 less then any other set of dies currently available for 22 cal bullets from 22lr brass. Might even be able to offer them a bit lower. We shall see.

Once I finish machine work and set a price I will begin to take orders for this first run of new BTSimple 22 cal dies.

    I'll keep everyone posted.

Could this set up be had with a boat tail (die/ram whatever), if so what would be added cost? thanks.

I have developed this "BTSimple" line of dies to keep it simple and cost effective. The BTSimple line of dies will be just that, simple and affordable. To answer your question... no the BTSimple line of dies will not be offered in boat tail at this time.

My BTSniper line of premium dies already offers, and will continue to offer boat tail options. I will be happy to offer anyone that is interested in boat tail bullets a set of my BTSniper premium dies in nearly any caliber they wish.

More details to follow on these new 22 cal dies very soon!

    Here they are!

14 sets ready to go to Nitride processing.

It will take about 3-4 weeks for them to be processed and returned to me. Should put it first part of February for first die sets to be shipped.

While the dies are in transit I will be machining the molds, inner die parts and base punches. So timing should work out well.

All 14 of these die sets are going to Nitride, if a customer wishes to order a non treated set I will machine a new set.

I have a price in mind for both Nitride finish and non Nitride finishes dies. I'll have the offer price listed in the next post and will be ready to take orders.

Please feel free to let me know if there are any questions.

    Thanks

Offered price is listed. I'll have a few more details to add including warrantee info..... rest assured these will be a very good set of dies, nothing too fancy just built to get the job done and make a very good 22 cal bullet from 22lr brass. I've spent years making, developing and selling great 22 cal die sets to the many members here as well as shooter abroad. I am very pleased with how these latest dies have turned out and I'm certain anyone lucky enough to purchase a set will be pleased too.

What I really like about this die set......

    1. The derim die and base punch! The length of the base punch as been shortened since I offered the original sets long ago. The shorter base punch length allows user to take full advantage of the power of the press to derim the 22lr brass making it a lot easier!

    2. Ejection pin in the derim die! This allows for maximum leverage use of the press while deriming in that you only derim the bottom half of the 22lr brass. Then a second pass threw the derim die is used to bring the rest of the case down to size. It is not necessary to use this two step derim process as it can easily be done in one pass with the new shorter base punch but having the option to derim in two steps makes it easy enough my little girls could do it!

    3. Simplicity of the point form die! The new design operates very smooth with a longer and slightly larger ejection pin that almost eliminates the possibility of getting a bullet stuck in the point form die. Also due to the simple design there is no adjustment necessary to the die it's self. Only adjustment required is it's position in the press.

    4. Simplicity of the core seat die! Because of the simple design no adjustments are necessary on this die either, only then the position in the press.

    5. Larger ejection pin of point form die! Not only does this make stuck bullets almost no existent but it also allows one to use a simple mallet to eject the bullets with making an auto eject system not necessary (but certainly recommended for maximum enjoyment from your die set)

    6. Perfect results from any decent reloading press!

    7. Fair price! Offered price is cost of materials plus a little over eight hours of my labor cost. At today's machine shop rates I consider this to be a very good bargain.

I'm sure there is more I could praise but I'll have to let the customers continue on for me after they make their purchases.

One thing I do want to do is run another postal shoot this spring for shooters making bullets from 22lr brass. It is a lot of fun and with some potential new shooters here it would be a great opportunity to make and compete with bullets you have made yourself!

    Good shooting and swage on!

I think I got it all covered in the initial offer price in post #30 as well as a repost of all this info on post #1.

Let me know if I missed anything or if anyone has any questions.

    Thanks

Truly interesting. I wish I had the coin for this right now, but with the holidays just ending I fear my fun money is tapped.

Any idea on whether these would be ok through a suppressor? I know it is not advised to shoot gas-checked boolits through a suppressor, but didn't know if the jackets on these could also frag out inside the suppressor and do damage.

Sorry, I should have been a bit more specific. The suppressor I have in mind is a sealed can, with stainless baffles.
