Another question.

I'm using the case flaring tool from my lee loader in 38 special to adjust the flaring die of the RCBS set. I'm flaring the case mouth with the RCBS die to flush with the flaring tool of the lee loader. The 158 grain bullets are going into the cases much easier now. Am I wrong for doing this?

no, your doing fine, if the boolit wont stay where you want them until you crimp them, then don't expand the case as much. you just need enough to keep from " shaving lead" or scraping slivers off the sides of the boolit. I have the same kitgood luck, any more questions don't be afraid to ask!

I sure wouldn't say "wrong"! But you might find that the Lee tool expands them just a bit more than necessary, especially for jacketed bullets. That is the location where brass usually shows a split, so a minimum of expansion is probably best in the long run. But---I've done exactly the same thing myself at times.

The bullets I'm loading are remington 158 grain lswc.

yeah as that guy said, I have split a case or two before, I think they were worn out though. but I usually don't needto hammer the tool all the way to that lip, if you have to to get you boolits to fit, you should measure what size the come out of the mold at... and then you will be able to figure if you need to size them or not. if you have already used these boolits and they went into the chambers easily, then they are probably ok. basically it comes back to what I said earlier, flare it only as much as needed,and overflaring can make it hard to hold the boolit in place for crimping, and could maybe possibly split a case.
