bought a young man a break barrel

I bought a young man a break barrel pellet rifle. The young man has been bow hunting with me and enjoyed it. But he wanted to learn to harvest rabbits and clean and cook them. I went and bought him a break barrel pellet rifle and took him out rabbit hunting tonight. This young man had a smile on his face all night. He had no experience with shooting and there for had no bad habits. With in a hour I had him hitting the kill zone on the targets. So we went out and harvested a few rabbits. Taught him how to clean them and we came home and cooked up one for each of us. I showed him how to brown them in cast iron skillet and then add water to tenderize them. I added golden mushroom soup to them and cooked till all hot. Served them over rice with the mushroom gravy. He took the rest home with him to cook them tomorrow for his family. Since losing my son to a freak illness, I had not seen that excitement in a young mans face in a long time. My daughter went with us and pulled off a 50 yard shot with my FX Royal 400 .22 cal air rifle. she was pretty happy too. I think it made her feel good to out shoot a male. lol Just wanted to share a great night with you guys.

You just don't "get it" until these days come.
My daughter is shooting very well. I see now why my dad hardly said no to going shooting or fishing. If everyone is having fun it's a great moment.

Teaches basic safety and responsibility. along with pride of ownership and the necessity of performing maintenance on the possessions you value. What they learn with their first air rifle will stand them in good stead when they get their first car or boat or home for that matter.
