The lee sizing die wax is water souluable and does good. I have even thined it 50-50 with water when I wanted a thinner coating. Again a little bit goes a long ways here. I suspect its a repackaged industrial swaging lubricant. We had a water souluable swage lube that was used for drawing cans and it was about the same consistancy and scent..... I use the Lee also for sizing , lubing paper patches and have been experimenting a little with it for mould lube.

Really amusing how far some will go to ave next to nothing. I have no idea what an once of Imperial looks like, never used it! From the sounds of thing's it should last several year min. Forget what it cost's an once and figure out what it cost's per case! Early on I did use STP and it did work great. Saying a little went a long way was an understatement. Amazing these company's making sizing lube try to give a good product and then finds out some people prefer STP, Bag Balm or some other cost saving stuff designed for something completely different. This always hit's me as really funny! it cost's something like .00001 cents per case and we are looking to cut that cost. Has anyone tried KY jelly!

Hahahaha!,,got the msds for ingredients???? Ohhhh, I could run with this, but.....no. Somebody probably has used it and won't admit it! As for me, if I ever use up my tin of imperial sizing wax I'll just get some more or whatever's around when I'm 80!!!!! Merry Christmas to the cast boolits site!

Bag Balm... we don't have around here. But we have a legendary product for similar use called Tummeli. The incredients are:

Aqua, Paraffinum Liquidum, Paraffin, Cetyl Alcohol, Cera Microcristallina, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, Polyamidopropyl Biguanide, Methylparaben, Propylparaben.

Would that be usable as case lube?

if you mix it [Vaseline] with lanolin 50-50 it works pretty well.
I know Grumpa [Matt] uses it for all his case re-forming and swaging.

I sorta shyed from this topic at first but then started following all the comments and that made me think about this stuff...I'll say this...no tool in my shop has collected more dust on it than the RCBS lube pad! That lube pad isn't even a good joke.

I still have the first tin I bought many years ago...the more I use it the better I get at using it sparingly so it keeps going farther and farther and at this point in life I honestly can't see ever running out and having to buy another at the rate I use it.
    Great stuff...needs improvement?..."nope!"

I go back and forth between imperial and bag balm pending the task. Right now reforming 45-70 to 40-65. With bag balm I can do it in one stroke if I get enough on the neck. With imperial I have to do it in several steps.

Yep - I think I'm on my 2nd can of Imperial since 1982 (and we shoot a lot out here) - I've never had a lube dent - just barely grease the left hand index finger and findle the cases a bit as they go to the sizer...

I guess i'll tell how I got onto making that lube I make.
when my wifes uncle retired he gave me his dads little bit of leftover reloading stuff.
in the box was a little jar of anhydrous lanolin he his dad and I have now all been using it.
I just had the stuff laying around and needed something to swage actual bullets with so mixed it up and have been using the same jar for everything needing lube since that time.
[I also grab a little bit from time to time to reduce the oxides in my soft lead pot]
I will probably finish most of the re-mixed jar before handing it down to my kids.
another 20 years and I bet that jar will hit it's 100th birthday.

That is the second kind of lube that is no longer available. With all the other conspiracy theories around, is this the next one?

Maybe we need to go back to using tallow or lard?

I do have a spare tin of Imperial, but I doubt I'll ever need it. The open tin is over 18 years old and you can hardly tell its been used.
That stuff goes, and goes, and goes.
The spare I bought because it was on sale for cheap at a closing.
