$430.55 for a mold on eBay

A fairly nice mold for a .32-40 paper patch bullet sold a few days ago for $430.55, not including shipping. I wanted it because I just got a Winchester 1885 .32-40 that I wanted to try with some paper patch bullets. After much soul searching I put in a bid for $150.00. I wasn't even in the ball park. That is the highest amount I've ever seen for a mold. Has anyone seen higher?

Are you listing it as vintage?

A pair of Ideal Armorys for the .45-70 (500-gr. Gov't model, and 210-gr. Gallery) went in that range on eBay a week or so back; $600's and high $400's, respectively, IIRC.

I saw a ideal mould-and NOT EVEN the perfection mould, about 3 years back go for $880.00 because it had "H. Pope" stamped on it....whether it was actually Pope's or not,I do not know!

I don't even like to pay that for a gun, much less a mould!

I think I mentioned this before, but I once owned a truly RARE Colt DA "Thunderer" in .41 LC with the 3" barrel in a gunshop in New Mexico in 1954 that had NEVER BEEN OWNED BY BILLY THE KID! (It didn't have the standard, authentic "Billy" scribed on the inside of the grips, and according to the serial it was made in 1912, so it was a truly "correct" non-BILLY THE KID model).

Unfortunately, after shooting up a couple of boxes of ordinary .41 LC "bullets", I manged to find a sucker to take it off my hands at only a slight loss. *SIGH*, for lost opportunities!
