I haven't shot this one in either of your calibers, yet, but I have tried
it recently in my 7.5 Swiss K31. I got decent groups with the normal
recommended 16 gr 2400, but significantly better with the other "universal"
load of 10 gr Unique. This is safe and almost always accurate in any
of the 20th century bottleneck battle rifle cartridges - don't think it is
OK in .223 or 30 carbine (never tried) but any of the 7x57, 8x57,.308,
30-06, 7.5 Swiss, 7.65 Argie, etc, etc, is very moderate and safe.
Not to mention about 1/4 the powder cost of a full power load!

Many stories about this load working great in one of the milsurps.
Should run around 1400-1500 fps in most.

If it was easy, anybody could do it.

I looked up a load for a 155gr cast in an old lyman book called for 17gr unique in 30-06 i loaded 10 to try. Went to range thursday. With open sights and a lead sled at 50yds 10 shots covered with a 1/2 dollar. My buddy was impressed- so was I shotman/rick

    311413 reputation

The 413 design looked like at jacketed design and sold well based on that.....however alot of the early shooters tried to shoot it like a jacketed bullet which proved much to fast .Results and bullet reputation suffered. Shot at 1500 fps or not a whole lot more ,accuracy is pretty good. Lyman did drop it from what I have read over the years because of the info above. I believe the 311291 or another design in current production will prove easier to cast and get shooting accurately. The flatter nose designs are better for hunting also.afish4570
