Lead BHN Calculator based on known BHN

I used to have a calculator for getting a prescribed lead alloy BHN based on by adding other alloys of known BHN. I would like to find it again but cannot.

    Thank you

That's the one I use all the time. Great stuff. I use it on my PC/iPhone/iPad with great success. And it tracks my Cabine tester results pretty darned close.

You can use simple math to figure out the BHN of known mixed alloys.

Say you have 1 pound of pure lead BHN 5, and 2 pounds of Linotype BHN 20.

I use the same ingot mold for all my different alloys, and mark them with their hardness. It also makes it simple to mix them and determine the hardness easily.

If I take 1 ingot of BHN 6, and 1 Ingot of BHN 14, that adds up to 20 divided by 2 ingots, or BHN 10
If I take 2 ingots of BHN 6, and 1 Ingot of BHN 14, that adds up to 26 divided by 3 ingots, or almost BHN 9

If you have Excel, just make up a spreadsheet:

The only formula is the one cell.

Thanks. It was something like this except someone already put it in an excel spread sheet worked pretty slick.

All you had to do was enter what you had and what you wanted and presto it gave you the mix ratio.

Although not free, this downloadable software module will calculate just about anything you want to know about bullet alloys.
