Just for the record LW, since all of the straight side 32s are the same diameter, the same FL sizer generally can be used for any or all of them. Of course you’re most likely to encounter a FL Sizing Die in 32 S&W L, but the good news is, that will be almost certain to work perfectly. The bad news is, the likelihood of finding any 32 FL Sizers ranks somewhere between finding Sasquatch and riding a Unicorn!

PS Off topic for this forum, but germane to the discussion, I routinely use the same 7/8X14 carbide sizing die to decap and size all of my 32s, regardless of length.

Good on ya, CW! What caliber are the dies? I’m putting all of my bench time getting ready for the Spring Nationals of N-SSA these days, but as I move stuff around I keep stumbling over 310/TL Jr stuff crying out “Use us, use us!” I’ll get to it, I just don’t know when.

I havent looked good yet. I sprayed them down with penetrating oil and will clean they up maybe tomorrow.

The good news is I may have a two die .303 set on the way.
The bad news is that after seeing Lyman 310 large handle prices on evil bay hover in the $40-$60 range for months now everything is $100.

A question for anyone that cares to answer.
For the older Ideal reloading and casting tool. How was de-capping accomplished?

The standard, Single-Adjustable and Double-Adjustable Ideal tools all had a combination expanding and decapping stake that fit inside the seater. This was the second thing commonly lost from the tool set, after the little charge cup.

They came with a little lozenge piece with a decapping pin on one end and shaped like the bullet on the other. You dropped this in the case, inserted it into the seater and squeezed. Extremely rare to find an original one today. The shape of the .38 Special lozenge that I have also flared the case mouth, getting rid of any residual crimp so the new bullet would start easily. An easy part to make if you have even the simplest of lathes.

Thanks Eddie, good catch! I do not own now, nor ever have owned a 41 Mag anything, but if I did, I'd be all over those dies with both hands and both feet. Since they were made so late and were never all that possible, I'd be willing to bet that they are anything but common.

Some small background. I acquired a Benchmaster milling machine last year and had no place to put it.
My brother not only parked it at his shop/garage but got tired of looking at it and put it on a stand.
I should leave my machines with my brother more often. He's already started on a table for the lathe.
Near the same time I retrieved the BSA Martini-Enfield from long term safe storage and gave it to the bride.
What this all adds up to is a 32-20 Winchester my brother owns and wife's single shot deer rifle needing tools.
I first saw a 310 tool in '71 and between it and an old school Lee loader I made my first cartridges.
In the last 50 plus years I've made my share of ammunition but never returned to the 310. It's time.
There just seems to be something special about making ammunition with a pair of pliers.


And the only file I can find of the BSA.


edit: actually they're both BSA's. The Martini-Enfield on the left and a CF-2 in .270 Winchester on the right.

The mill looks like an Atlas, is it? If so I have its' companions, the benchtop horizontal, and the benchtop shaper. Both in storage. Nice machines, a sight better than what comes from China these days.
