    I won't be digging roots until fall but if you remind me I can stick one in a little dirt to keep i moist and pop it in the mail.

    How do you store your squash over winter? I’ve never have had good luck doing it. Some people have suggested harvesting it earlier, before it’s 100% ripe.

    I just put them in my 50 degree pantry that by then has around 40% humidity(gets dryer as winter drags on). They last 3+ months. I keep them in a screened in shelf otherwise mice will chew on them and that can cause spoilage. They will eventually turn all orange and about then start to mold inside around the seeds...
