    T/C .54 Renegade rebuild

I got this Thompson Center .54 Renegade kit rifle in a trade from a friend, he had finished it back in the early 80s and it was really rough, he had sanded most of the stock lines smooth and the rest of the rifle was the same.
I started by refinishing the stock with a couple of coats of BLO and then put the rifle back together.
I love Thompson Center sidelocks but their rendition of the Hawken triggerguard never really grew on me.
I found a Hawken reproduction on TOW and fit it to the stock, I also straitened the front trigger to more resemble an original double set trigger.
I think it turned out great, what do you think?

This is my best group so far, standing @ 50 yards, 80 grains FF and PRB.

Looks nice and Great offhand shooting! I just got a 54 Renegade myself, hope it shoots that well. I like you trigger guard redo, I'm not really a fan of the TC design either. The other TC design I don't really like are the sights, I see you fixed that as well Do you like the FO front, seems they look like big fuzzy blobs when I have tried them, but itt must be working well for you based on that group!

I've been fighting with sights for the last few years, cant see the rear, cant see the front, fuzzy this fuzzy that.
I tried one of those Merit eye cups that sticks to your glasses and that did not work for me either.
The only thing that works recently is an aperture rear and the fiber front.

Very nice job! I like your changes - they look great! And . . . that shooting isn't bad either! Looks like you ended up with a very nice rifle that will be a lot of fun! Enjoy!
