Timney Trigger for Mauser 98 in a YUGO M48…ANYONE DONE IT?

I read the reviews and one fella said that removing some wood from the mil-stock in the rear of the trigger group lets it slide right in.
Have you installed this trigger in the Yugo M48…easy, tough or is it really meant for the Mauser 98…all I know is that the two actions are different length, that's it.

this is the route I went.
you may have to clean up inside the stock a little depending on how it was cut.
I didn't have to remove anything.

Thanks r5r, another option, one that wouldn't negate the safety.

yep.
I went with it on my 25-06 the trigger was very inconsistent and I figured the one they put on at the VZ factory back whenever.
when I pulled the rifle down I seen it had an adjustable something or other on it that pretty much just took out stage one and nothing else.

I got the Huber and somewhat followed the directions until I had everything working then gave it a go, it was an immediate improvement.
but ti wasn't perfect so I took it to the range and worked it over a little bit at a time adjusting the screws and shooting it until I got it exactly where it felt right.
now instead of jerking at the trigger I can sit there and follow through each shot which allows me to call the shot on target.

Yep…you nailed it here…'follow through so you can honestly call the shot', anything less than this is just lobbing horseshoes…This little Yugo M48 is a potentially nice cast shooter and I think it will test my skills at trying to shoot fast and flat when casting/PC'ing and dialing it in. But…for sure…the mil-trigger has to go first!

I put one in mine and yes, I did have to grind out some wood. It only took about 1/2 hour to make sure it didn't touch.

Thanks…what is the mention about the 'no safety' does that Timney prevent the safety on the bolt from working?

I've never messed with any of the Yugo M48's, but the bolt safety worked with any of the Timney or Bold triggers I put on various Model 96 and 98 Mausers.

I usually used either a Buehler or Timney (same thing) or a Mark II safety since I was putting on a scope on most of the rifles, but a stock safety would work if you weren't going to have a scope in the way.

Timney triggers drop in with a little whittling. I never adjusted the weight, as the factory settings were 10 times better than original 2 stage military.

Thanks for all the information fellas…I'm ordering the Timney from Midway tomorrow and assume that the bolt safety will not be affected by this modification.
