I impulsively bought a Sig Sauer P210 Standard last Monday. Now before you all think I’m rich I only get to make this kind of impulse buy once every two or three years. I was actually looking for a nice 1911, walked into a shop about 60 miles from home that I’ve only been in once and I immediately saw the P210 Standard and P210 Target, first P210's I've ever seen in person. I joked with the sales guy that I better walk away before I buy one. He said he’d get it boxed up and get my 4473 ready, ha ha. I looked around and not one 1911 in stock, lots of Ruger Mark IV’s, Browning Buckmarks, expensive ZEV Glocks, I still don’t understand those. Are they a customizer or are they making their own guns? They also had quite a few of those $2000+ CZ’s with the blue and Orange aluminum grips. I’d like to have another CZ75B but I don’t need a $2000 race gun to plink with.

So I made my way back to the P210’s. The Standard was $1319.99 the Target was $1449.99. I found out afterwards that I saved $180 over any other store in the area and that the Standard was recently discontinued. The Target felt great in my hands and yes the adjustable sights are more precise but I just think those Target grips are ugly. So I bought the Standard model because it was $130 cheaper, still plenty comfortable, and extremely smooth. Like the slide is on ball bearings smooth.

I went out back and put half a box of American Eagle through it yesterday. Ammo is expensive and my pre panic 9mm stash is down to 275 rounds! I thought the recoil seemed a bit stout for a 5” full size 9mm that only weighs 2oz less than a full size 1911, but when I saw that that first 8 rounds went in one ragged hole at 10 yards I knew I had a keeper. The only handguns I’ve ever shot that well were a Sig 1911, an S&W 1905 1st change, and a Glock 35. Oh how I wish 9mm ammo prices would come down. I found 1,000 pieces of brass and a mold for a not too terrible price, then realized I sold my last 3,000 small pistol primers to a friend in January because I haven’t used small pistol primers since 2015. Oh well someday I’ll be able to afford 9mm ammo again.

Been on a bit of an AR tear lately. Got another KE Arms polymer lower. This one is black and I have a complete 18" Faxon Gunner barrelled upper to put on it. The AR15 Sporter, the ultimate adult plinking rifle.......

The prices have doubled or more in the last 20 years! I remember when I was 12 and started hanging out at the LGS that would have been 2002. They sold multiple used nickel 629's in the wood box for $600 those first few years. There was also a run by S&W in 2004 or 2005 of what I believe were .44 specials I don't know the model but it was a 6" or 6.5" nickel gun with a case hardened hammer and trigger and wood grips and they came in the old style cardboard box. I know it was a run of 200 or 250 and I can clearly picture it, they also sold for $600 but I have no idea what it was and I don't have a blue book new enough to look it up in. Lately I haven't seen a 29 or early 629 for sale at all. Newer "rubber grip" 629's seem to be going for $1200-$1300 used around these parts, or that's what people are asking at least.

Those are great pistols! Purists may poo-poo them as not "real" P210s, but I think they are quite impressive and will only go up in value.

After swapping my Yildiz folding .410 single shot to my daughter, I started having withdrawal symptoms.
So I went to Academy and got another one.
    Neat and petite.

Yes I've noticed purists crying that they aren't Swiss made, and that they changed some features. I've never seen a Swiss or German P210 in person but I have to say this is a darn fine pistol. I've previously owned semi pistols that cost from $100 to $1200 and I have to say the P210 is smoother and tighter with better fit and finish than any of them and I can shoot it just as well as any of them. I've always been a really big fan of the CZ75 but now that I've compared the P210 to my 5 or 6 year old CZ75B I'm thinking about selling the CZ, I don't need a double stack for a range gun and that's all the CZ has ever been. Besides the P210 is more comfortable.

I bought this around the first of May, a 1941 Husqvarna M38. Probably paid too much but oh well. It joins my other Swedes, a 1914 Carbine and a M96/38.

You’ll like that Sig 1911, I had one for a couple years and wasn’t a handgun shooter when I bought it. I could regularly put 8 rounds in one ragged hole at 15 yards. Now I know some can do better but that’s really good for me, I’ve only been able to do that with three or four handguns.

A local shop had a 6” 25 for awhile last year I really wanted it but didn’t have the money, when I finally got the money I couldn’t find one.

I bet that .44-40 1875 would be fun, I’ve always wanted a .44-40 or .38-40 but I’m so invested in loading .45 Colt that I’ve just never gotten around to it.

I'd guess $1100-$1200. A shop about 15 minutes from me has a new STX for $1050.00 and a new TacOps for $999.00, I haven't seen a Spartan in awhile. I honestly don't see a whole lot of Sig 1911's but I really like them. Guns for the most part haven't gone up in price here in Ohio, individuals think they have but they haven't in shops. Ammo on the other hand is the same story as everywhere else. I'd really love to have that STX but I can't afford it and the three guns I have that are worth enough to trade even for it are too important to me to get rid of. Besides I already have a 9mm, .44 Mag, and .45 Colt, I don't really need .45 acp too, not during this ammo shortage. I find it interesting that I bought my Sig TacOps 1911 new in 2012 for $999.00 and the same dealer still wants $999.00 new. Either Sig is doing something right keeping their prices down, or this shop is getting some incentives from Sig.
