can a mold be sent back to the maker and opened up?

i have a .358 4 cav. steel mold from accurate molds.
    at 125 grain drops.

has any one had one opened to .362 and deepened to 160 grains?
    or any other type boolit?

or is ordering a new mold gonna be it?

I've not had it done, but there are several folks here who convert to hp molds, I'd bet they might alter a bit.... May be as cheap to order special......, your going up a lot, I'd look for something similar to the final size.

If the mold isn't right for you sell it and get one that is. That way everyone is happy. Just an idea.

Tom at Accurate molds will make that mold to any drive band diameter you want. My question to you is what diameter do the bullets drop at with the alloy you are casting with from that mold as it is. I am sure you already know this but your drop diameter will vary with the alloy you use. I don't know if Tom will open it up for you - But it's worth asking. Eric it Hollow Point Bullet Mold Service will enlarge the drive bands for a pretty fair fee. Without looking at his pricing - I think it's something like a $35 set up fee plus $5 per drive band. Somewhere in that neighborhood. Add shipping both ways and it starts to get up there for a 4 cavity mold. Deepening one is a whole different matter. You are altering the mold design - And I don't think Tom or Eric can or will do that.
