    Cast Boolit & Load for a 340 Savage in .22 Hornet

    I went by my LGS and came home with a 340 Savage in .22Hornet in about 90% condition.

    I am looking for a good cast boolit and a good load for it.

    Lyman Cast Bullet Handbook. Both 3rd and 4th edition have MUCH useful info. A MUST for the boolit caster. Buy both. Read, cover to cover.....

    My Stevens 322 in 22 hornet got a steady diet of 9.5 gr of 4227 under a BRP 225-46-FN , NOE has a copy of this design and it is capable of 2600 FPS all day long from your 16" twist barrel in that hornet. After running my K reamer in it, it now gets a steady diet of 10.5 grs of IMR 4227, same BRP boolit.

    Is your rifle 22" or 24" barrel

    Good bullet in my Hornet, cast 50/50 WW/Lino. 8.0 2400 worked quite well, YMMV.
