This does a great job of scoring metal up to 0.025" to fold and break into strips for gas checks

I don't want to pay shipping from the U.K. for a blade that should cost about $1.50 here

Good luck finding some left overs. Stanley says this blade is a discontinued item.

Those of us who work with laminate and no ferrous sheet metal have lost another very usefull tool.
I shall treasure and cherish the one blade I have left.

years back I was hanging drywall to finish the upstairs

I destroyed 4 utility knives in 4 days (sink blade all the way in & drag to the end of sheet),

on the 5th day I picked up a heavier bigger one,

cost a good bit more but figured maybe I can finish the job

still have it today, looked for another to have a backup, no longer made

They drop the line of tools because not enough folks are buying.
There are several reasons they drop good tools, they made the tool too durable and the market is saturated, or the market was too small to support the expense of making the tool and it was priced out of reach.

Or they drop a line because sales are not high enough and they are not making enough profit.

I miss the Skil 574C saw with alloy frame - it used to go on sale for $29.95 in the 1970s. I had 3 of those saws, I would rebuild one a year when I was in construction, had one for use and one for backup. Rebuilding the brushes and gearbox, and a new cord cost $11.00.
Small, light, and enough power to rip 3" thick soft wood for over a minute.

B&D and Rockwell saws would last 1-2 months before the smoke would leave and the saw would die.
And I had the plastic frame on a Rockwell self destruct when I hit a knot in a 2x4 at -20F.
Some tools are not built to last

    Don't through old ones away...

I just use the same blades with an EZE-Lap flat diamond hone. Sharpens instantly. Have not bought blades in years.
