First attempt at making grips

These are on my Ruger Bisley 41 Mag. I made them from a nice piece of dark-heart maple I found at Home Depot. I made several mistakes but hopefully I learned enough to do a better job next time. Special thanks to eskimo36 (on single actions site) for sending me a pdf full of great tips.

It's interesting we have two posters making their first sets of grips here, and both chose curly maple for their material. I guess great minds think alike, because I'm thinking about making at least two sets for my Blackhawks, and using the same material! Good job! Very beautiful grips, and I bet they fit your hand just so, and point better and handle recoil better than any you've ever bought from the store. Am I right?

Well, they fit fine, but I'm still figuring things out. I think more practice will eventually lead to a more exact fit.
