    Remelting powder coated range scrap

    A quick question.
When one melts lead scrap salvaged from the gun range, what noxious fumes do you have to worry about from the powder coated bullets?

And what happens to the powder coat in the lead cleaning pot - does it burn off giving off fumes, or does it turn to dross?
Go now and pour yourself a hot one...

It is not good to breath . It smokes and the plastic balls up in the pot. Avoid the smoke and skim off the plastic.
    No problem.

You should be smelting in a well ventilated area if not outside. You don't want to breath in any smoke from the garbage that is in there. The powder coating will burn off and become part of the dross that you skim off. But don't be breathing it.

    Good advice ^^^^^^^^^^

I recently melted down some boolits that were tumble lubed with A-Lox. Yeah they smoked a lot but it seems the A-Lox actually acted like a pretty good flux.

You want incredible stink you very much don't want to breath in then try melting down epoxy coated bullets. That stink alone is part of the reason why I gave up Klass Kote coatings. I even added a large fan in the garage so the stink didn't linger.
