I'd like one with thick leather. PM me.

Not real thick, but I would look at the leather welding apron's from Harbor Freight. Some times they are on sale at ridiculously low prices.

Go to the "Vendor Sponsor" page. Go to the end and try Whyte Leatherworks. Maybe he can do something for you.

Any welders supply will have them. If your thinking about lead splash don't get one with pockets.

I use the HF one and it has saved my legs and lap several times!!!!!!!

Inexpensive and holds up very well. I use one for casting and another one in my wood shop.

You could also get one of the flame retardant cloth aprons made by BSX. I used their pull on sleeves for years welding pipe, they work good and are cooler than leather and a WHOLE LOT less $$! Used their full jackets in the winter too.

Got a .22 .30 .32 .357 .38 .40 .41 .44 .45 .480 or .500 S&W cylinder that needs throats honed? 9mm, 10mm/40S&W, 45 ACP pistol barrel that won't "plunk" your handloads? 480 Ruger or 475 Linebaugh cylinder that needs the "step" reamed to 6° 30min chamfer? I just bought a side of 8/9 oz leather which is about 3/16 inch thick. It was long enough to get one apron that could go from my neck to just below my knees and wide enough to go a ways around the hips. This is too heavy to sit down in and could be hard to bend over in. On sale, it was just a hair under $80. Cost wise you will be much better off getting an apron that was commercially made rather than having one made just for you.

BTW I also use the HF apron for casting too.
    Some times it's the pot,
    Some times it's the pan,
It might even be the skillet,
But, most of the time, it's the cook.

I got a farrier's apron off of Ebay that covers me to the ankles.
Forgot the name of the company.

The HF apron (the one I use all the time) is on sale right now for $10.99. The have several grades of leather gloves.

Why pay more? At those prices I bought several for the different shops (wood, metal, casting)
