Lee 105 SWC 9mm load data

Hi, whats your load for lee 105 SWC in 9mm?

I have tested 5.3 of unique today at 1.000 OAL and they didnt seem strong enough to cycle the slide 100% of the time. A few FTE and FTF. Didnt lock the slide back last shot.
Will try 5.5 next I guess.

    Whats your loads? Any powder.

Look in the Lyman 4th edition for the Lee 102 with 700x. I believe it's around 4 grains (have to double check) cycles fine and launches at around 1200 fps.

From the Lyman cast bullet 3rd edition: This is for a 92gr and a 115gr. You can figure out the "in between" and come up with a solid estimate. Note COAL in both is close to your number. What other powders do you have? Bullseye has a lot more load data for that little boolit. I tried it but my gun didn't like the shoulder so I gave up on the mold.

I shot a lot of them with 4 grains of bullseye or 4.5 grains of aa2 (pr200) Id start there and ajust up or down till you get to the point your gun functions reliably and stop there.

Yeah, those reloading manuals are pretty popular. You have a couple, yes? If you are reloading and don't have several, I'd suggest you stop until you DO have several.

To be totally honest, if I can't find a manual that confirms forum reloading data, I don't use it.

I have several manuals, especially for powders or bullets I use, plus others.

    Do what you will.

Krio, you didn't say what gun you were shooting them in. I originally bought the mold for use in a .380 Berretta 70s after reading about its use back in the late 1980s. Naturally, I had to run some in a 9mm S&W 459. It ran great over 5 grains of Unique, seated with the case mouth half-way between the crimp groove and the front edge of the drive band. That load has cycled in every 9mm I've tried but hangs up in my 9mm AR pistol. It shoots great in my Marlin Camp Carbine, but that thing feeds everything. So do my Glocks. Your pistol might be better suited for heavier boolits.

I worked up a "not to punishing" load for an old WWII P-38, didn't want to batter the old war horse. With the 105 grain Lee SWC, sized .357 , 4.0 grains of Red Dot would reliably cycle the gun.
I have replaced the recoil springs with new Wolff springs and will try out the 4.0 Red Dot load again and also load some with 4.5 grains to test out.
The 4.0 Red Dot is gentle and seems to shoot to point-of-aim, but 4.5 might be better.

I'm surprised that didn't cycle in your gun... I run 4-4.1 grains of unique with an oal of 1.040. They seem to run pretty well in my ruger sr9c. Started at 3.5 grains and it was a single shot...
once in a while I'll get a failure to feed on a fresh magazine. These little guys are really accurate for me out to 25 yards. Ran out of unique so I've been running the same charge with 700x. A little hotter but they still run well ...though I haven't tested more than fifty of those to date. I was looking for one plinking bullet for both my 9mm and my 38 special. Love the little bullet so far...many per pound at that weight.

5.6 of unique, at 1.000 OAL cycles and shoots fine in the glock.
Didnt chrono it yet (will next time) but it looks like a medium load. Doesnt slam too hard, but cycles the slide properly. 5.3 didnt lock the slide back. And those lee powder bars allow me 5.3 or 5.6. The adjustable bar doesnt drop that charge of unique reliably, flakes are too large. The rotary bar with holes works.

I just need to fix the leading now, see my other threads :P
