    Let the BE-86 testing begin

Picked up an 8# jug of BE-86 from Alliant on a whim. It's supposed to be the "New BullsEye" available to the public. Anxious to give it a try I loaded up some 45 Colt rounds using 7.5gr and 8 gr for testing. 50 each. I wanted a mild plinking load and used the traditional load data found on the Alliant website. I am using an NOE 454-255 boolit sized to .452" using a LAM-2 and RandyRat's Tac X (my favorite lube). The powder will be ignited by Federal LPP and OAL set to the crimp with a mod-firm roll crimp. This was all put together on a Dillon SDB. I weighed several charges and once set the charge weight did not fluctuate according to my Lyman digital scale.

Tomorrow afternoon I plan on launching these out of my Marlin 1894 CB, Ruger Redhawk 7-1/2" with Burris 2x scope and a Lipseys special SS Bisley Convertable. Chronograph duties will be performed if I can get my 15yo chrony alpha to cooperate. I really need to invest in a newer one.

Anyhow. Hope to provide a more detailed report tomorrow.

5 years or older can be used for trade in only. No upgrade. I wonder what trade value is.

you definitely can't use bullseye data for BE-86.
I have a jug of it here too and from what I have seen it seems to jump back and forth over unique
sometimes it looks faster than unique and other times it looks more like herco.
in the 357 mag I plan on trying it at the same charge weight as I use herco.

Did you make it to the range today? My Chrony Beta is a bit older than yours, still works just fine. It'll do until a boolit or gas check takes it out.

I'm jealous, would love to have an 8 pounder. Hoarding my last pound to load .380. Wife wants me to use it to reload 45acp. Decisions, decisions... Yep, its gonna be Win231 for the wifes 45acp, she will certainly enjoy that better

Sorry guys. 2 youngest Kids were sick today with a GI bug and fatherly duties call. If it doesn't rain, maybe tomorrow before work. Thankfully my daughter is feeling better so we can make the father daughter dance at her school tonight. Gonna get ready. Sorry to let you guys down. It would have been a fine afternoon for shooting.

had to be better there than here.
it was just above freezing with winds gusting to 20 mph.
I managed to squeeze off about 40 super shaky rounds before giving up, the dog stayed in the truck.

New Bullseye? Not even close as a direct replacement.

Seems closer to Unique or Power Pistol in burning rate.
If it was easy, anybody could do it.

It another example of a VERY POOR name or designation for a gunpowder. Just as dumb and dangerous as many other examples such as Clays this and Clays that. I think they want to kill us all off.

Picked up a pound of BE 86 last month and have been trying it in my .380 ACP pushing a 95 grain J bullet. So far it is working fine, don't have a crono so it is all just seat of the pants. Also have been loading it under a 100 grain cast plinker for .30 calliber rifles, getting good accuracy with 6-7 grains at 35 yds. Need to get out to the range for 50yds trials. So far it is a good addition for my bench.

Haven't had a chance to shoot this stuff yet. It's been raining all day and supposed to be icy tomorrow in NW GA. It's on my list of things to do in my spare time.
