contender 45/410 barrel can I load a 454 case long to work in the 410 barrel

I just bought a 410/45 barrel for my contender. I have read that they suffer accuracy because of the length of the cylinder bore. I was just thinking could I load the longer 454 cases I have with a light load...but load them shallow to make them closer to the 410 length to give me accuracy from the 45 lc barrel? I was just wondering..in my head it makes sense...but then again that's why I am asking. I already reload for the 45 LC. I thank you for any help you can give me.

See no reason why not. You can also buy .410 brass cases from ballistic products. You might need Dacron filler.
I am interested in what you find. I do not know the rifling in the .410 TC. Did they make it shallow for the laws? Very hard to cross a shot load with a boolit.

I had one and cut a little off 460 S&W to load boolits in. It helped a little but sold the barrel and gave the brass to another member here for him to play with. I don't know his outcome with the brass.

Look up the .450 Mongo. I bought my 45/410 barrel strictly to shoot 410, but it looks interesting enough to wannaa try it.

If you want to use bullets instead of shot in yours, I hope yours has deeper rifling than mine. My rifling is just barely visible, so there to fulfill a legal requirement, and not to actually provide a bullet with any spin to stabilize it.

And you already know this, but in case someone else reads it down the line that doesn't, make sure you remove the choke before firing a bullet through the barrel.
I passed my last psych eval, how bout you?

I have had really good accuracy out of mine with 45lc with every bullet that I have fed it. On the other hand, I need to develop a better load for the 410 side of it. It tends to blow donuts with some factory loads
