Maybe.. I posted in the Barrel sub forum of Gunsmithing and not a single reply, not sure if nobody checks in there or I've been annoying everyone with too many posts since surgery & I've found my way on to everyone's ignore list!

I would like my own sub-forum, entitled "All Things Char-Gar". There I can explain life and it's mysteries to the children under 50 on this board. I think such is needed. Profanity should be allowed, so I can engaged in direct speech.
Disclaimer: The above is not holy writ. It is just my opinion based on my experience and knowledge. Your mileage may vary.

I like that idea. Recluse needs one too. You two are the ones here who just have a way of stating things so simply and clearly that it hits home.

How about a sub-forum for discussing adding sub-forums to sub-forums?

We might need a poll on that first.

I think I understand what the OP is getting at. I used the technical and historical side of this board for years before the unwise step of clicking on the number for unread posts, and seeing all of them, from everywhere on the site. It was quite a shock to see that some people whose opinion I had considered seriously for whole minutes on end, were a pork pie short of a picnic when it came to religion, politics and race.

Of course all countries have pretty much the same proportion of raving propeller-heads. The test of a society is what the others do about them. But the level of hate extended to those subjects seems largely confined to the USA. I don't know any Western European country where it extends as far up the social ladder, from the losers and the quieter sort of inarticulate.

I don't know, last time I checked despite our differences we got along with each other a lot better than some parts of the world. Have not heard of the Catholics and Protestants forming militias to kill each other for being apostates. Same fellow that will rant about liberal agendas on a forum may well stop in a full blizzard to help push a stuck car out with an Obama sticker on the back bumper. Another might drive by and laugh, hard to say based on forum posts, too individual.

What I have noticed changing is the extent that power brokers and politicians are willing to feed into these divisions and possibly less social groups, clubs, and fraternal orders with memberships that cross those boundaries that divide us. Those groups were often a chance for us to find out that there were good people and neighbors with strongly held opinions that were the opposite of ours. Good for the country to know that the other side is not all "evil" or "American hating".

To some extent this forum does that, lot of good helpful people who may hold different views on some issues but share and help each other in our common interest. Have received PM's from people offering help and support, none ever asked me my religious affiliation, political party affiliation, or some litmus test questions before offering that help. I have done the same. But when it comes to posting opinions we can be a bit feisty at times.
Scrap.... because all the really pithy and emphatic four letter words were taken and we had to describe this source of casting material somehow so we added an "S" to what non casters and wives call what we collect.

Kind of hard to claim to love America while one is hating half the Americans that disagree with you. One nation indivisible requires work.

Tolerance of opinions different from one's own increases in direct proportion to emotional maturity and intelligence. Intolerance of different opinions and the attack of persons holding them, is practiced by people who are emotionally insecure, and feel the need to attack people who they perceive as threats to them and their opinions. It is all rather telling. Civil discourse require emotionally mature intelligence stable grown ups.

On the cultural side, American's do tend to be more contentious than most others. However being contentious is not the same as being hate filled. For some on this board, it is a hobby.

Is this a solution to a problem we don't have? I thought CastBoolits was primarily about............wait for it.......................Cast Boolits!!!

Maybe there isn't one specific area for just cast boolits, but the sub forums seem to be set up pretty well, with reloading sections, a lead section, powder..............oh wait, and the Cast Boolits sub forum.

I think the OP's suggestion must have flown right over my head, as I just really don't get what he is looking for. I am a member of Calguns forum which is based in California, but also happens to be a large group with a lot of info on various firearms topics. When people on Calguns ask about boolits and casting, I direct them to CastBoolits as the reloading section on Calguns is just a little tease as to what we discuss here. Calguns is more about general topics and is full of BSing back and forth. Calguns is a big community and feels more like the public than Cast Boolits where it feels more like a tight knit community. Calguns has a very popular Off Topic section where this forum is lucky to have 5% of the off topic chatter that Calguns does.

Maybe the OP should browse some other forums to put the topic into perspective, or maybe his opinion just differs.

Judging by some of the responses I see why the purple sarcasm font is needed. It seems a lot of people don't understand sarcasm. Such a shame.

Thank you God for post #33 &34. I was feeling like I was alone on an island in the Pacific. That happens to me often here due to my lower intelligence than most. "I still think it's a novel idea".
