Surprised I didn't see this before and thanks to Gary for reviving it. I got one pretty much like if not this one off a box of Bisquick years ago and have made it with venison and chicken. Comes out great. Cut out the recipe and it's on the wall at my hunting camp. I'm sure it would work great with partridge, rabbit or whatever.

Its a comfort food from when I was little... I still make a smaller batch for myself now and then. Make enough for 2 meals. To reheat put foil up tight against the cut edge and pop it back in a 350f oven until hot. Can microwave but the bacon can pop and explode it... so make sure to cover it well! Makes a really filling meal on a chilly fall day.

I once used Bisquisk a lot. One of my of the recipes with it my friends enjoyed was pineapple upside down cake.
If milk bothers people, using water instead, won’t make a big difference in the taste with all that cheese.

MaryB - per your #13 post, here is a recipe used in our family. I wish I could give attribution to the original source, but it's been bounced around and modified, here and there, to the point I have no idea where it originated. It's a "one pot" wonder.

    1 1/2 # ground meat - browned and drained
    3/4 # bacon - crisped and drained
    1 cup chopped onion
    2 cans (1#15 oz) pork & beans
1 can (1#15 oz) kidney beans - drained
1 can lima beans - drained
    1 cup ketchup
    1/4 cup brown sugar
1 Tblsp liquid smoke (go light - too much is overpowering)
    3 Tblsp white vinegar
    1 T-sp salt
    dash of pepper
Brown the bacon & onions together before draining
Mix all - low heat - crock pot / dutch oven ~ 4 to 9 hours

A cast bolts cookbook could be a treat.............
