A flush 4 round mag would be nice for extended carry in brush and long hauls. The smaller mags stick out and are right where I want to place my hand for balanced carry.

No I agree with you Randy, that is IMO one of the things Ruger got right with its 10/22 was a flush fitting magazine.
Ideally you should have a choice, fewer rounds, but flush, more rounds and put up with the hassle of a magazine that protrudes.
That lets you adjust for what you do.
Personally I have not had a Mossberg since the bolt action .410 shotgun that I bought 3rd hand ohhhhh so many years ago. (Back in 1970)
It is still with me, still looks good and functions well. And because I didn't know any better it doesn't get used much because it is a .410 not a 20 gauge.

Yes to 300 BO/whisper and flush fit mags. I'd imagine a mag could be done with some work. With the forward scout scope and flush mag I think this would be a good yet large grasp, that's how I carry my scout 30-30 but I also hunt with a sling

Answering my above Q, those are quick release scope bases. Also I purchasedone of these rifles and returned it and sold off my M1A magazines. There were issues with the bolt. Mossberg CS
refunded my money. It was a nice rifle and concept, when they work the kinks out I may buy another one as a truck gun.
