As some might know I moved into a small retirement home in the hills I recently built. Since moving I have not been able to PC a bullet with good luck. I had to get a new oven since mine was killed in the move. I had to get new containers. I have Eastwoods Ford Light Blue brand new bag. Just can not get coverage. Heated the bullets didnt work. Washed the bullets in Acetone didnt work. Changed containers from one whipcream bowl to another. Nope. My coverage is spotty. So I built this big hobby room in the house and honestly I was a better caster and PC er in the driveway. My casting is all of a sudden questionable at best as well. So ya fun day in the reloading room.

I was laying out, with blue Dykem, a few of the military Mauser modifications for the cast bullet sporting rifle. I pretty well determined that the 358 Win cast bullet rifle modifications will feed just fine. Made a couple more dummy cartridges for fitment. Just awaiting the arrival of the new 1-14 twist 358 twenty-two inch barrel.

Yesterday I cast 375 of Mihec's 358640 bullets and powder coated them. Today I sized them and cleaned up some .38 Special brass I traded for. I loaded up 50 of my bullets in .38 Specials, over 4 grains of Accurate #2. I should be set on 'Plinker bullets' for some time. hc18flyer

-casting, sizing and lubing a few hundred more over the next few days.

And loading for all my and my son's rifles (45-70, 30-06, 30-30, 338 WM) - confirming load development, setting up Skinner, or trying new loads (e.g., 250 Interlocks and Barnes TSX for the 338, using H 4831 SC, Ramshot Hunter and RE 22. 225 Interlocks are pretty well completed).

Finally found a useful load for the 40 grain Nosler all copper.224" varmint bullets in my 30-30 !

20 years ago I ordered some sabots from E. Arthur they were grey and did poorly in 30-30 I believe because they were not spinning fast enough to leave bullet cleanly. I was almost out so I order more the new ones are white and a slightly different design with a bevel base for easier seating in the case . The old one are gray and 6 grains the new white ones are 7 grains . The new ones separate well from bullets at 30-30 speeds the 40 grain Noslers shot 1.1 25 yard group and at fifty yards the group was 1.5" velocity was 3000 f/s The load was for a 100 grain half jacket from Lee second addition reloading book new Aliant Reloader 7 . I only picked up about 200 fps over a 100 grain bullet .
Also shot was my home swaged 51 grain bullet which shot a bit better at 25 yards the same bullets in the old grey sabots they shot a 8 inch 25 yard pattern!
The white sabots dropped to the ground at 20-25 yards the grey dented the 25 yard target on each shot .
All the remaining bullets are loaded and ready for pests I does make my Marlin 336 a two shot rifle as I would not put the pointed bullet on a primer in the tube.
When I think back on all the **** I learned in high school it's a wonder I can think at all ! And then my lack of education hasn't hurt me none I can read the writing on the wall.

Test cast about 75 slugs from my new MP 9mm mold, two different hollow points and solids all from the same mold. Now to find my sizing stuff so I can size these for the new SA35.

Cast about 14 lbs of the MP 452-200 in penta point with good clean 1:25 lead. Going to try to work up a good accurate load that expands nicely from a 1911.

I added 150 38spl to the empty bin and 20 357mag. Burned a box of 50 cci 22s in the old Henry. Tuned up the air rifle now that I can see the ground I know the red tree rats will be out. So nothing productive but sure was fun.

Separated few hundred 5.56 brass by head stamp and length off the shoulder +-.001. and loaded up some test rounds for accuracy test at 50yd. 55 gr. Fmj bt. And reseated primers by hand because my Hornaday AP doesn’t always push them in to my liking. Over H335.

Cast, clear powder coated, sized, gas checked a quart bag of 208 grain 30 caliber hollow points. Now the waiting begins.

I stared at the Tupperware that contains my disassembled Taurus PT22…..
    Then I reloaded 50 6.8 x 43 brass with the Lee 130 gr and 21.8 grs of AA2015.
    Great load!

Made an LED light that drops into the center opening of a 550 tool head. Along with a wall wart wired to run it.

Discovered that the very top of the tool head center holes can/do have some casting flash. So cleaned them up so the light gizmo drops right in and will fall/pull right out. Easy-Peazy.

Ended up PCing those 45s... I've got a new "gun" -- it's still being built -- that I reamed out the bore until standard ball ammo fits. My "loose" 45 acp load does not chamber by a few thousandths so I think I'm going to tighten up my load with the new boolit so that it should shoot a little more universally.

I've also got to slug that barrel so I know what to size to... My method for slugging a bore is to take a fired cartridge and fill it with lead and then pop out the "slug" with a bullet puller. Then lube that guy and pound it though the barrel. It doesn't take much to drive it through. The next time you cast, make a couple for the cartridges you load for just in case you go to the gun store...

Snow bank I fired some bullets in melted on the grass I did find a very small amount of thin bullet jacket from the Nosler all copper varmint bullets . Fired from a .221 fireball the bullet exploded not going 4 inches into the snow leaving copper grains in the cavity made .

The copper plated hollow base wad cutters I got in a bag at the gun show that I loaded to 700 f/s showed patches of copper falling off probably why they are so inaccurate .

Cast .45 grain bullets fired from bot carbine and pistol showed no surprise the hollow points did not open and only some of the paint coating was worn off of them . It appears they traveled 3-4 feet in the snow before stopping this was not fallen snow but was pushed up by plow so it was a bit denser.
