It has a "fat tail" to the pressure/time curve, so it isn't so good in short barrels, but it will give you higher MV for a given peak pressure than the old standbys. In a gas-operated semi-auto this may not be good, because port pressures will be higher, and revolver guys complain about it gas-cutting the top strap.

Judging pressure by primer appearance is very imprecise. Time was that it was all the amateur wildcatters had, but now we can get chronographs for a few hundred bucks instead of a few thousand, and we should use them.

Where published data is sparse or non-existent I've been using Quickload software for almost ten years now. Look into it.
My old model 1907 is a unlocked breach recoil operated rifle so primers can be distorted by more then pressure as the bolt moves and case moves in the chamber .I have yet to run the 20 grain load of little gun over the chronograph . I am using trimmed .350 Legend cases deleting the small semi rim throwing another issue in the mix . A side is the pointed 140 FTX (sized at .351") is the same length as the original Winchester 180 grain soft point.
Thank you for the information about the longer pressure curve on Lilgun it is what I need and probably why the thick case is has soot on the forward part .
When I think back on all the **** I learned in high school it's a wonder I can think at all ! And then my lack of education hasn't hurt me none I can read the writing on the wall.

tumbled, resized, primed up 40x 44magnum cases ready to load up when my buddy fires off some I made for him the other day and tells me what recipe he likes best...
260-270-280 grn cast the 260 is a ho ho hollow point, the 270 is good hollow and the 280 is the parent projectile. will be used on bailed pigs at close range but he didnt want subsonic/cowboy action loads so used some lilgun with a stout but not maximum charge weight.

Accomplished a lot today - cast 25 lbs of the NOE HTC-402-188-WFN... This should do me for USPSA for the next 3 months...
Then continued my "clean all the brass" epic with about 1000 556 cases. I only have 45-70 and 308 left.

Filled and sealed a bunch of Speer .44 plastic shotshells then stuffed them into .44 Special cases.

Started setting the reloading room up after a long distance move and building a new shop. Finally!

Powder coated about 25 lbs of 40 cal boolits. Also took a thermal probe out there and it turns out that my new cheap toaster oven is about 400 degrees at the 250 mark and is hot enough to melt boolits at the 400 degree mark... I turned about 7 lbs of boolits into little messed up puddles a week or so back.

Brought another load home from the storage unit. Reassembled the presses and building storage to replace the cabinets I had on the walls in the last place.

I finished filing everything off of a P14 Enfield front sight that didn't look like a Winchester 94 front sight. I'm trying to get my POI/POA to be closer.(On the 94)

Setup my bench to start reloading those 40's in the new space. Got things setup like I like it and put together about 100 rounds. Shouldn't take too long to get that 25# of boolits loaded.

Patched up an old Lyman Crusher. This is I believe the second model, that looks like an RCBS.

I bought it very cheaply, as it was effectively damaged. The hard stops were gone and there was excessive cam over.

The base of the casting that is the built in hard stop against each linkage arm was broken, so I used an epoxy that is designed for filling casting defects to cover up the gashes.

Then, to re-create the hard stop, a few one inch washers, epoxied to each other and the frame.

I've been looking for a dedicated press-type backup priming solution that has primer seating depth control, and this - with a simple Lee Ram Prime, will do the job.

Tumble lubed 3 pounds of Lee TL314-90-SWC. Sized .313 first, for the 32L revolvers.

Loaded 300 rounds of 350 Legend and got another 200 primed. Finished off my first brick of primers and started another. I've got real ammo boxes now to put them in. Man there are a lot of bits and pieces starting a new caliber and there is another box of stuff coming.
