did some casting yesterday .loaded up 50x 45-70 today .
I sized and primed 53 30-40 Krag brass, 20 will be loaded with the Lee C309170F that are pc'd and weigh 176 grs. The other 33 will be loaded with either vintage Vernon Speer 180 gr Spitzer or Hornady 220gr round nose; all on top of IMR 4350 with CCI LR primers.
My rememberer was wrong- the Speer bullets are obviously not spitzers........

Began processing around 1,000 .308/7.62X51 Nato brass.
Finished the third casting session with an Mihec hp mold; https://www.mp-molds.com/product/mp-...-multi-choice/
Getting the hang of it now with mostly good boolits. Pretty amazing piece of machining. Bought it off a member brand new but didn't notice it was a gas check style. I've got several .44 molds so I won't be shooting a large amount of these. That's o.k. too because I had to pay $77.00 for 1,000 Lyman gas checks.

I did some casting last night with a Lee C309-170 for a Model '94 30-30 and today I did a thorough cleaning job on the equipment, melting pot and the necessary tools.
Cast 2 pots of 359-125 HPs, large pin while I contemplated serious cleaning and reorganizing the shop. (Don't put off until tomorrow what you can put off until the day after that.)

Annealed 60 pieces of 338 Win Mag that are destined to become 458 Win Mag, currently in the polisher to clean of the tarnish from the annealing. Load up the fire-forming load in the morning. Have to size/lube some boolits for the 458 tomorrow.
Sorted 200pcs of 10mm, not only is there crimped brass, but spp as well. Almost as tedious as sorting 45acp for the same reasons.

Yesterday I cleaned out a spot in the reloading room and moved the tool chest in. I pulled the drawers to get the weight down to manageable by 2 guys. Got most of the tools and dies put away and took a break. I went back out there for something and noticed a smell like candles burning. I look over at the loading bench and there is a curl of smoke rising from the middle. I had swung the Luxo magnifier out of the way and it focused the sun through the window on a vacuum cleaner nozzle and had welded a 1 1/4 inch long bead on it. Caught it before it found stray powder kernels. Whew!

Started production of 45 ACP! Did 100 today, will continue until I run out of boolits (~400). Gonna cast more Saturday and hopefully go through a couple pots.

My ring magnifying/light recently died. It was always mounted between my two south facing windows. I've been considering it's replacement and have been considering a new location in front of one window where my primary workspace is.
My have to rethink that plan. I've got good insurance, but I'm not sure I want to test it out to that extent.
PS: Didn't do anything in the reloading room but did take a niece-in-law skeet shooting. Second time to the range. She's catching on and she's the one who asked to go both times.
Not bad for a person who admits that a couple of years ago she was hard core anti-gun.
She's been hanging around with an evil influence too much

Boss gave me an extra day off this week due to my assistant manager being on vaca next week so Im working 6 days then. Used the time to cast 15 lbs of 227 75grain Nato boolits. They're coming out 70 grains ish, equates to around 1500 boolits. Brass molds get heavy quick.
I spent an hour casting a bunch of 358156 boolits. I had thought that I had gotten a well-cared for used mold, but it turns out that it seems to have been unused before I got it off of the Ebay. This is the first time casting for me for awhile, so I was pleased when the new mold soon started to break in and turned out nice sharp bullets. It's a fine feeling to make a nice product!
It was cool this evening so I used a pot of brother Jim's mystery alloy to replenish my supply of Lee C309170F, 358105SWC, and 358150SWC. I also tested out a new to me C358200RF mold- and it worked great.
Now to get a rifle for those......

Sized/decapped 500 223 cases today. Now to trim/chamfer/deburr them.
Cast up 200 150 grain .267 RNFB bullets and sized and gas checked same.
Cleaned up, gathered loaded rounds and organized, getting ready for veterans hunt coming in October. Checked on feeder for clock that’s been losing time. Still throwing corn, just not at the right times I want.
