I got this Christmas card from my parents several years ago. I really like it and I saved it. This poor cowboy is working on trimming a tumbleweed to look like a Christmas tree, He even has the paint ready to paint it green.
I suspect there aren't going to be many gifts under his Christmas tree.

I suspect some of our newer members are going to have a Christmas like my cowboy's Christmas.
Some of our newer members need to start casting to afford ammo, but can't afford the basics to cast with.
So here is a little Merry Christmas help for a fairly new member:

Your choice of one of these two moulds:

Size:	29.8 KB
ID:	123355

The left mould is a Lyman DC 358429 170 grain PB SWC.
The right mould is a Lyman DC 358477 150 grain PB SWC.

To be eligible for this Christmas gift you must have been a member more than a month and less than a year. Also, you must not have received a Christmas gift from me last year.
To apply for this post a short post of why you need this. Then send me a PM titled "Christmas gift" with a more detailed description of why you need this mould, what reloading experience and reloading tools you have, and what casting experience and casting tools you have. Please also state which of the two moulds you would like and what gun or guns you will be shooting the boolits in. Include your name and mailing address in the PM, but not in the post.

I already have one member who has pledged to help me with this. More are welcome to join in. To join in, please PM me on how you would like to help and please do not post in this thread unless you are eligible for the Christmas gift and requesting the Christmas gift.

    BrassMagnet

PS. I will try to choose a winner in time to get this mould under your Christmas tree.
PPSS. This will remain open until I post the winner!

PB = Plain Base as opposed to Gas Check
    SWC = Semi Wadcutter

    Only one qualified applicant?
    Come on folks!
There are at least two moulds!

I would like to apply. Man, talking about myself is hard. I have "just" started casting because I
can't afford ammo anymore, & the short time I have been casting (or trying to) I see that this
is something I am really going to like with a ton to learn. Wife & I are both on small fixed income's
My body let loose & I have been unable to work since 2009, I still wish I could but my body says NO!
My disability income & Lisa's small pension from Baltimore Police Dept don't go far enough at all, especially when ammo prices are involved. I know this is not very good, I just cant talk about myself,
It just doesnt feel right??? I think I would be interested in the 170gr?? Thanks BrassMagnet... Larry

I'd like to apply for one of these molds. i joined the forum in October. I have been out of shooting since 1978 and a couple of years ago, started getting back into it. I've never bought a loaded round of ammunition save for 22lr. The source I had for .38 special lead is now out of business. I've done some casting of fishing weights several years ago, but that is the extent of casting experience. I'd like to start casting, have fair amount of lead, but no experience other than what I've read on this forum. I've had dealings with some members on this forum and have been very impressed by them. Their willingness to help amazes me. I currently shoot 158 gr lswc, so I would think the 150 grain would be a good choice. This is a very gracious offer you have made. Whether I win or lose, thank you for doing this for someone.

OK, Brass, you've twisted my arm enough. I'll try for the 170 gr model. I "need" it because my brother and father both have revolvers that don't get fed enough. A Ruger Security Six and a Colt Cobra. The Cobra was an Argentine police model with the 5" barrel. They (and a couple of my other brothers) already piggyback on my reloading equiptment and I expect the same will be true of my casting stuff. I have been reloading for nearly 2 years and just poured my first boolits in October. As far as equiptment goes, I have a Lee O-frame press, mostly Lee dies, and a smattering of mostly Lee accesories forvreloading. I have a few molds in fat .30 and .44. I am hoping for a bottom-pour pot under the tree at home this year.

Well, I think we have two winners.

Merry Christmas Fast Ronnie and Cowboy Dan!

Merry Christmas Larryw. You weren't eligible for the mould, but I will put a little something under your Christmas tree!

Are we done yet? I think maybe not. You never know what will fall off of the sleigh around here!

Brass, you are THE most generous and encouraging man I know.

I just finished a pm to brass magnet, and decided to check this thread. It is a bit of great news to end a dismal day. I was supposed to be teaching some high school kids a little bit about welding today, but my car broke down yesterday, and I spent most of the day trying to retrieve it from a friend's house and in the process, losing a trailer tire, so not making it to the school. Looking forward to the mold to see if I can do some of this here boolit casting. So far this week, I've been trying to load some 06 for my wife. Merry Christmas Brass, and thank you so much. Maybe I can help someone out there to follow in your example.

I have to tell/warn you guys. Brass gave me my first mold a couple or three years back for christmas. That was probably the MOST expensive christmas present I could imagine. I suspect you will probably need a part time job to try and keep up with what this precious gift is gonna cost you. lol

A big shout out for Brass.

Yeah Brass, what do you want for Christmas? I read that you like Louverin Moulds, If you don't already have one I've got a duplicate 287405. Let me know if you would use it. Steve Mc

I think I have already received a really nice Christmas present. The VA doctor said they removed 17 grams of benign tissue from my prostate. I was concerned I was terminally stupid by waiting two years after I knew I had a problem to seek medical assistance. All I can say is sometimes you get lucky. I have been off work almost a month and I will be off work another three weeks due to a bleeding issue I had last Saturday. Things are improving rapidly and I should be capable of doing normal things early next year. The surgery was a TURP. Transurethral Resection of the Prostate. Most of it is still there and it should be good for almost totally normal function in another month or so. There is supposed to be one minor side effect, but I prefer to think of it has I have a glass of fine wine to drink and I will not complain because I can't sip the last few drops in a rather large glass. Think retrograde as a minor issue with all else normal.
I used to think I would rather die than give up that part of my life, and so the two year delay in seeking treatment, but I had a chance to think about it while I waited for my surgery. I realized I had a lot of toys I haven't even played with yet and I do want to play with them enough to be willing to give up that part of my life if I must. It's great that I don't. I might even have a few brain cells I haven't even used yet!
Merry Christmas to all and if it takes me a little longer to pack and mail boxes than usual then you now know why. I hope to get these and some other gifts under the tree in time, but if I don't manage it you can rest assured that if I promised to send them they will arrive eventually.

    BrassMagnet

Note: As a disabled vet and a VA patient I don't have to pay for the treatment, just a nominal fee for prescriptions and from my job I have more than enough saved sick leave so I draw my normal salary during this whole recovery time. All I lose is the chance to work massive amounts of overtime to spend in Swapping & Selling. So this Christmas I have no money troubles, good health for the future, and time to visit with family.

I'm glad to see your are in the VA system. I have been for a few years because of a cancer issue. They have taken very good care of me. Now I'm on blood pressure medication. They've been real good about that issue, too.

You are indeed fortunate that your delay was not a deadly one.

I wish you and your family a happy, healthy and prosperous new year.

Dang, those are two of the best moulds ever made for the 38 special and 357 magnum. The 358429 over 5 gr of unique smacks stuff hard and the 358477 over an unsafe to post amount of 2400 turns rabbits inside out. Great bullets and somebody is going to be a happy camper!!
