    tube gun pics

Here are a few pics of a tube gun I built from scratch. It uses 1911 mags-started with 0% ar forging. It looks a bit clunky but I wanted a tommy gun style stock. 45acp and very accurate!Click image for larger version.

That was my very first thought after "COOL!"

Don't you wish good 1911 drum magazines were still available?

Thanks guys. It was my first scratch build after getting into building guns. Next project is going to be a falling block single shot.

I don't think it looks clunky. It just looks a little different in a good way, and reminds me of one that is in a Shotgun News gunsmithing book. Now that one is clunky.

Is that a direct blowback, or did you manage to squeeze in a delay?

How did you decide on buffer weight and spring tension?

I was watching an old rerun of Hogan's Heroes last night and noticed that the German guards were carrying Thompsons instead of MP40s as I would expect. Funny that I never noticed that back when the show was originally on the air.

Interesting looking weapon you created there.

Not so fast, your going to need to post a lot more details, including photos, than that.

This is direct blow back. I got the specs for the weight on weapons guild. It uses a sten recoil spring... Specs?? Basically I started with a 0% ar forging- I milled off the area where the buffer tube would go. I cut a radius on the top of the forging to match the tube. The mag cutout was a real PITA but that came out ok. The mag release was machined into the lower like a 1911. Modified ar hammer with stock FCG... More pics to followClick image for larger version.

You can build your own semi autos legally but they cannot be sold unless you have a mfg FFL. I just wanted to see if I could machine a semi auto carbine from scratch.. It was fun and I learned a BUNCH about different designs.. The bad side is now I have a few ideas for other gun projects!
