Lighter .44 boolit

I have discovered a gaping hole in my .44 mold collection. I was thinking that something in the 200grn range so that I could get 5 boolits for the same lead as 4. Looking at wadcutters but the Lee 200rnfp looks like it would be more versatile. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I have the Lee 200 RNFP, and the Lyman 429215 in solid and HP form. Haven't loaded either in the Mag. so can't help with anecdotes, but I can't imagine ANY decent .44 bullet NOT shootin well.

I have the Lee 200 RNFP also. I load them light for my Rossi 92. They shoot as well as I can expect with open sights.

I have several moulds for the 44 ,a Saeco #944-200gr WC , #420-200gr TC , #441-240gr SWC and the RCBS 240gr gc SIL .
I use the Saeco #420-200gr TC 95% of the time and the #944 for bowling pin matches, i dont use the two others that much since getting the #420. I also like the 40.0 gr savings per boolet.

Over the years i have made over 49,000 of the #420, there not all shot up yet still have about 4K in my stash, but most of them were shot by me and maybe about 8k were shot by friends .

I've owned/shot the lee 200g rnfp in the past. It got the job done but was nothing special to write home about. When I had the lee mold I also cast/used a lyman wc also (429348). The lyman wc was allot more accurate. Sold both of them when I bought a Mihec hbwc mold for the 44's. I came across an old cramer 2-cavity nose pour 200g wc for the 44's and couldn't pass it up.

It's hard to beat a wc in the 44's.

I have one you don't see often.. It is a Magma .44-190 SWC. It is the one on the left.

Right is .41-190 that they sent to me by mistake. Both made perfect boolits right out of the gate.

Thumbcocker--The Lee 200RNFP is a great design for both revolvers and lever action rifles. Best of all, it is inexpensive, even in 6 cavity! The only drawback it has, is it's inability to punch nice clean paper punch type holes in targets due to not having a sharp edged front driving band, like a 429215 or other swc.

Another Lee 200gr rnfp fan here. Also really like the Lee 208 gr wc. Was fortunate enough to score an old single wc mold awhile back and was hooked. Lucked out at found a nice double wc mold for a $13 (it arrived today ) Both shoot very nicely in my .44 special CA Pug and 44mag SBH w a variety of powders.

It shoots quite well from my Marlin and is about as cheap on lead as you can get next to a round ball maybe.

Tom has several other lightweight options as well from 115 grs. (there's one I haven't seen before!) to 200 grs. in TC, wadcutter and RNFP designs.

I too like the Lee 200 grain boolit over about 4.9 grains of Tite Group in a 44 Special case. It shoots very well for me.

I recently got the Lee 6 cavity mold. The boolits drop so fat (I have note measured how fat) that after I size them with the Lyman .430 sizer, the crimp grove is almost gone!

They seem to shoot very well though!

The RCBS 200gr RNFP is a very accurate one, the best I've tried so far. If you can live with a .429 size bullet.
