I have seen barreled Yugo SKS receivers with shot out barrels offered for sale in the past, along with like new barrels still screwed into cut off stubs of receivers.
Probably not many if any of those deals still available these days.

Gunbroker has several, both stripped and with barrel

Sarco would seemingly have bbled receivers cheaper than GunBroker:

    http://www.e-sarcoinc.com/original-c...receivers.aspx

Which of course still leaves OP w/ an extra bbl - perhaps to be adapted to an AK build after he acquires enough SKS parts to finish his SKS? And probably the cheapest way to buy enough parts to finish his SKS - is to buy an SKS.... Which would leave him now with 3 barrels and 2 receivers... Perhaps one bbl could be adapted to an AR?

Sarco would seemingly have bbled receivers cheaper than GunBroker:
Those are Chinese receivers, probably good ones so long as they have screwed in barrels rather than the pinned type.
Gunbroker has one of the Chinese receivers without barrel for around half what Sarco wants for the barreled receivers.

Best bet would still be to find an otherwise good condition Yugo with shot out, corroded, or bulged barrel.
Since the Yugo barrels aren't chromelined I have no doubt some have been fired using corrosive ammo and left uncleaned for too long.
The extent of the bulging of the Yugo Barrel I cleaned up suggests others may have been damaged in the same way. The rifling itself looked fine after I removed handfuls of crusted up fouling which may have contributed to the bulging.

    Gotta love the shovel AK!

I gotta guess my MIL wasn't there to tell him it can't be done. Over & over & over.

The problem is going to be headspacing as they headspace off of the locking shoulder similar to the FAL. But unlike the FAL I've never seen an assortment of them around.

the sks is Russian designed. the Russians designed guns to be built on the least amount of machinery with the least amount of work. so yes you can build one. you already have a lathe and probably a drill press so you are tooled to build one.

Well, after all the input (and I appreciate the info) I ordered a gun from Tiger imports. I'll let you know what it is like after I have it. First time I ever bought a gun online!

Nekshot I dove into online buying back in January, since then I've bought 7 all told. Pair of Mosin's, a Yugo SKS, a Ruger 22/45, a Sheridan Blue Streak, a Springfield Armory 1911, and a Handi Rifle that should ship in a day or 2.

Gunbroker has been good to deal with, as was Cheaperthandirt.

There is all kinds of stuff out there, just wish I had more cash to spend

ID:	120368I want to bring closure to this thread by thanking all of you fine lads for helping expand my knowledge of this dark side of guns. I ended up buying a complete gun from RoyalTiger and it came in friday afternoon, took it apart to soak on saturday and put it together this morning. I grabbed 5 shells that were loaded for my bolt rifle from a new mold I never used before and didn't know what would happen but here is the results from 80 yards. I know we can cut these groubs in half and my son wants the gun to stay as is so I am finnished. I do want to get a rubber thingy for in it and drill a hole or 2 in gas tube and thats it. Thanks everyone!
