    " Raining Hollow Points "

A week ago, I sent my 44 Cal., 200 gr., 4 cav. SAECO # 446 to Erik Ohlen for insert bar conversion HP work on two of the cavities of the mold.

The mold arrived today. I reassembled the mold, got my pot hot and began casting.

I have no idea how I could be any happier with Erik's work.
WOW ! ! I can cast HP's just as fast as you can cast solids. The bullets HP'd now weigh 190 grs.
ZERO sticking of the bullets on the HP pins. The bullets fall from the pins and cavities. Erik does fantastic work and is super fast.

    MANY THANKS ERIK !

    Dale,

I shot this SAECO # 446 bullet yesterday in .44 Special cases with Clays powder from my Super 14 , 44 Mag Contender ( with 2 X scope ) . The loads yesterday were 200 gr. solids.

I can't wait to try it out with these 190 gr. HPs with the same load. These are sized .431" and lubed with Ben's Red :

Great looking mold. I want to send in my 4 cavity 358156 once I decide on how many to HP and PB.

The work looks awesome but saying there's no sticking is amazing!

Looks really great. Good thing you don't live in the People's Republic of New Jersey.

    Bill,

I don't think there are any concerns about me being anywhere close to the People's Republic of New Jersey.

Eric is a real class act and makes wonderful molds. If you have a question or an idea, you can run it by him for an honest answer.

    Ben,
I understand, it just hit me that these wonderful boolits which those of us in Free America consider
to be just a normal tool, and things of some beauty, too - are something that would make us criminals
in that hell-hole. Thank goodness I never have to go there any more. Crazy people that will
put you in jail for possession of HP boolits. . . . . . . just hard to really understand, so I just stay
    away.

In any case - Erik does a great job again. Let us see how they shoot, too, please.

    Bill,

After reading your comments about NJ,
I Googled that aspect and read some.
WOW ! ! Talk about narrow minded,
their HP ammo laws aren't going to
make anyone one a bit safer.

    Thanks for your comments,

    Ben

Thanks for posting this Ben. As always your photos speak volumes. The detail is just fantastic. I can really see how concentric the hollow points are and your closeup of the mould shows why. Super attention to detail, very close fit. If only we knew what lube you have on them. (hee hee!) I think I can guess.

Nice group with the contender! More like a tear pattern.

    Ben;
Obviously, those bullets shoot VERY well. Kudos to your shooting, also!

I have several Mihec hollow point moulds and they work essentially the same way. It's possible to turn out LOTS of fine hollow point bullets in a relatively short period of time. I have a couple of the Lyman single cavity hollow point moulds and while I'm able to turn out excellent bullets they are painfully slow. My choice for hollow point moulds are the two cavity ones. I can get good production and don't find them near as tiring as trying to manipulate a four cavity hollow point mould.

Keep up the good work! (and that goes for Eric, too!)
