    Lyman 310

    What a slick little tool!

A friend handed me a box of "reloading stuff" yesterday - saying "Here - you might have a use for these things." Inside I found a .310 tool with dies for .45-70 and .45 colt, along with a SC set of blocks for the 454190 and a LEE .454 dia RB mould.
It was the first time I'd actually held a 310 tool. Soon I was "messing around" with it just to see how it worked. Now I'm entranced with the concept. Not sure what I'll DO with it - but it's a nifty little tool.

    Uncle R:

You'll love them, especially in those two calibers. But they're addictive - I must have a couple of dozen, counting some of the older Ideal versions. Randy Davis at <The310Shop@aol.com> can supply any parts, adapters, alternate expanders and seating screws, etc., you may need, as well as additional die sets in most of the more popular (and some not-so-popular) calibers.

I've a nice boxed 310 die set with handles and extras in .44 special. (cake cutter and bullet sizing dies as well in .44 and .45 caliber)

Also have 9 mm, 38 special, .45 acp/auto rim, and .45 Colt 310 dies. Oh, and a boxed set of .38 Super 310 dies.

The 310 dies are neat to play with, but find myself using pretty much case mouth expander and the seating die in .44 special and .45 Colt mounted in my Lyman AA turret press with an adapter bushing.

Why do I use the 310 tool for that operation...it gives me a very uniform crimp every time. And what works well for me gets used.

BTW, don't have a pistol for the boxed set of 310 dies in .38 Super, anyone wants them they are forsale.

As the others have said, it is a GREAT tool.

I have two handles and dies for several rifle and revolver cartridges.

The most used are the 22 Hornet, (where I load 22 air rifle pellets in primed cases) and the 45-70.

Try it out and you will find many uses for a 310 tool. Yes, they are slow and not for everyone but they sure are neat.

    Good luck
Knowledge I take to my grave is wasted.

I prefer to use cartridges born before I was.

Success doesn't make me happy, being happy is what allows me to be successful.

Don't beleive those guys they are terrible, but nice guy that I am I'll take it off your hands.

Kidding aside they are real handy for certain jobs or loading at the range.
I've got a super but load for it on a Dillon since I use it for IPSC. 310 might be a little slow.

I use the 310 tool for decapping blackpowder 45-70 brass at the range. Just back the size die out to clear the case and it work great.

It also works great as a "universal" decapper on the bench.
