Mixing powders that work and don't work

At this point as far as the HF powders go we have pretty much all figured out what works and doesn't work. We know the matte black is pretty much ES or wet tumble only. The gloss read can dry tumble or ES. Then all the rest are pretty much ES only.

I just read that you can mix 50/50 the gloss red and the gloss yellow and it will work still as a dry tumble coating. This is news to me as I never found the yellow to work wet or dry at all. Same with the white.

I did try mixing black and red together in a wet tumble batch and would not recommend anyone else try that mess.

So what other mixing combo's are there?

It might've been my posts you've seen. I've mixed the HF white with HF red as well. These were dry tumbled.

All of these were steel bb tumbled, humidity doesn't seem to matter as much when using a mechanical method rather than a static charge. Both methods have their advantages. Here's some results.

It was pretty humid this morning and they aren't 100% like I'd like however I decided to have some fun and make some 'zombie tracers'.... not exactly mixing, I know...

All the gloss HF colors mix well, I do it all the time for BBDT and ESPC. Black will mix with ESPC.

HF "orange" is one of my standard mixes I have about a pound of pre-mixed up.

I have Smoke's blue and it will NOT mix well with HF pwoders! I tried blue and yellow and ended up with blue boolits with most of the yellow powder in the bowl! Only blotchy greenish colors on the blue bake when BBDT'd.

So brand of powder is key.

Mabe Smoke will try mixing his powders to give us some data?

I looked it up and I think the HF powders are epoxy based and the PBTP powders are polyester based. Maybe that's the conflict?

That is it exactly .. All my powders (so far) will mix with themselves as all are Poly based

We once had a fellow at a benchrest match who indicated he was using 21 grs. Of Reloder 9 witha 52 grain bullet in his .222, I pressed him further and he explained that he was low on powder and mixed part of a can of RL7 and another of RL11 and it shot so good he wanted some more, was out of RL11 so also tried RL12, and that mix, RL9-1/2 was even better, but he was soon out of 12 and asked me if he could mix 7 and 15, and if I thought that would make RL11 again......

I think your mixing apples & oranges here.

We are talking about powder coating powders......not nitrocellulose propellant powder.
