Have you noticed any difference in the quality of coverage across the different colors? I'm jumping into PC and would love to see the copper and I'm very happy to order when you get it but I'm interested if you've noticed any differences. I.e. HF Red works well, other HF colors not as much. Patiently waiting on copper...

I found with ESPC all HF colors give a nice even coat. Just looks are different

HF red is a good deep red
HF yellow / to light the lead over powers it.
HF white / very light the lead over powers it
HF black. Covers well but not Shiny

I found that a mix of red / yellow gives a great burnt orange look.

White red can do varying shades of pinkish.

There not a true mix kind of o pixelated look .but nice nonetheless.

They all have performed great for me.

In my opinion powder coating is a viable replacement for copper plating.

    "Not copper jacket"

Its also fun to make. Fun to shoot. Range guys think your crazy.

I like being known As the "guy" who paints his boolits.

If you are ES Spraying all colors will cover well .. in HF powders Yellow is a little on the thin side so you have to spray a little more .. IF Dry tumbling and using HF powders.. HF red is the only one doing well.. That's the reason I went out looking for a better quality powder..
So far every color I have tried from the supplier I am using as colored/covered very well ..
The real trick is making sure your oven is actually getting to 380-400 degrees and is holding fairly constant.. and to preheat the oven Before putting the bullets in..

Got your powder but they been promising rain all week - to damp to DT. Finished these this morning, ESd. 150gr PB for the 300 BO & 30/30. Load this afternoon & hope the weather lets me shoot next week. The 165 did fine but the fps wasn't where I wanted.
    Whatever!

I'm new to this power coating game, and I saw your link in the S&S section. I'll be interested in see what copper looks like -- subscribed. I may spring for the burnt orange aesthetic though. This may rekindle my interest in boolits in 9x19mm, but I may have to wait until the next boolit casting season.

What kind of ovens are you guys using? (I think I'm saving in guessing you are not raiding the kitchen oven.)
    Also, HF? ES?
Does the dry tumble powder coat adversely affect hollow point designs e.g. miha HP boolits? And is the powder toxic and unwise for 'meat harvesting'?

Thanks for helping out a newbie.

It's less toxic than lead. Many dry tumble and many ESPC. I dry tumble and one of the benefits of using this vendor for powder is that you can use a powder that has been tried by others for DT effectiveness. If you don't get it on way too thick (you'll have to mess around a bit and see how you like it) it should only be a thin coating that doesn't effect hollow points.

From one supplier .. NOTE PEAK METAL TEMP 375 degrees ... not oven temp ..hence the need to preheat the oven and add time to get the base metal up to temp
Standard Cure: 10 Minutes @ 3750f Peak Metal Temperature
