rubber maid takealongs are polypropylene #5

In search of an alternative to cool whip bowls I found these to be made of same material. They come in packs of 3 for a couple bucks at dollar general or any other store that sells grocery items.

I have to agree, I'm not getting good results with the Rubbermaid containers. I got them at the DG too and they're great for processing brass (move each case to another container as you go) etc but I'm getting lots of blotches and clumps.

I think the best #5 recycle code containers are white. The clear ones I've used will only work with red powder...

Same here, yellow is almost useless and even mixed with red to make orange it is taking three coats to get decent coverage. That's with HFPC

Interestingly, each coat makes more stick so the PC must help build static

I tried mine with the number 5 on the bottom with the new method of using air soft pellets and got excellent results. Have 9 powders now so can have one tub for each color with the pellets. I can see where humidity and other factors may make things different for different people. Gsdelong

Why do so many people have such a problem with using Coolwhip containers?????? You can buy it everywhere, it tastes good on deserts, and is inexpensive.

Why mess around with other shapes and brands?

Round with that domed bottom seems to be the only shape that REALLY works well.

Being frugal is one thing...........but Coolwhip is very inexpensive!!!!!!!!!

Why do a few people think they know everything despite their track record.

I started powder/tumble coating recently and have been using the Ziplock container from the beginning because it's all I had (didn't know anything about Coolwhip containers or #5 plastic) and it's worked great for me.

Heck I even managed to do the impossible apparently; I tumble coated with Harbor Freight flat black in this container...
...of course, that was before I knew I couldn't do it
In all fairness, it took two coats but I don't mind and after seeing the thread using airsoft BB's I'm gonna give that a try.

This was from my very first attempt at powder coating

I've since done a bunch of HF red too in this container

(Edited because I never paid enough attention to my container: I thought it was TakeAlong from RubberMaid )
