    Anyone tried PC + lubing

Wondering if anyone has tried powder coating and then lubed the grooves? I'm sure there is no real need for it if your getting good accuracy and is an extra step that probably isn't necessary. I'm just wondering if anyone has tried it and what the outcome was. I'd try but HF didn't send my red powder because they are out.

I also noticed in the boolit lube section someone was mixing moly with their powder coat and getting some good results. Has anyone ever tumbled their PCed boolits in moly and shot them?

PC works good for me without the lube. I don't know what lube would do to the coating and I wouldn't want it in my dies.

I tried it on a 30-30 170 grain bullet from a Lee 309-170 and you can not get enough lube in the rings. And could see no difference from just powder coating

I tumbled some in alox to squish down some fat boolits with my sizer. No noticeable difference, but I wasn't loading them for high velocity.

I had a few early on that were kinda iffy on enough powder, tumble lubed 'em and they shoot like a normal lead boolit.

We have discussed several times in the PC groups.

Unknown factor..........What will the lube do to the PC when down in the case over time???? If you coat, lube, load, and shoot within a couple weeks, probably no problem. I see absolutely no reason to apply grease to PC'd boolits.

We just do no know what the grease will do to the PC over time (mabe months/years). It could soften it enough to loose all the properties we use PC for , so why even take the risk?

If you are a greaser, use lube grease. If you are a coater, use PC methods.

Just use whatever you like best, but I would not cross over. If you are willing to PC and lube a bunch of cal's and sit them on a shelf for 6 months and then take them apart and test the PC, please do it! We would all welcome the feedback.

But whatever you use......be safe and have fun!
