has any one converted a stand up freezer into a curing oven using electric stove components? if so how well did it work. i want to make a cure oven big enough for bigger projects like gun barrels and car parts as well as boolits.

Unless it's old enough to be porcelain, the inside is plastic which will out gas something at curing temperatures. Quite possibly something you don't want wafting around the neighborhood. Check the scrap yards for a retired commercial oven. Add a fan at the end of a run of ducting.

Wow, puts my little $20 toaster oven to shame.

Old kitchen ovens off craigslist? You could go bigger with commercial ovens but they get *pricey*. I wouldn't PC a barrel btw.
true, if I had a larger garage I would just buy a used ugly kitchen oven. they go for like 100$, this is how much it costs for a new crappy countertop convection oven anyway
One thing I may do if I up the size of my oven is to add a fan to make a convection style for more even temps. My thoughts are motor mounted on the outside with a set of blades on the inside to protect the motor from the heat. Oh it will not look good but it just has to work.

Interior of a freezer would likely melt at 400º.
Don't forget, for most kitchen ovens you'll need a 240v outlet in the garage.
That's a nice custom oven.
Good think to point out squibload about the 240 volts. I do not think about not having 240 in the garage since I do have it and something else that has been pointed out to me a lot of guys do not all ready own a air compresser. I was speaking to a fellow about PC and was telling him cost was not to bad at all until he pointed out he would also have to buy a compresser then the entire cost just about doubled depending on type he was going to get.
