I bought a 8 lber of Alliant powder pro 300 mp. I wasn't in a hurry to buy any, but $124.50 was low enough. It came to $168 shipped. Can't beat that locally

Two 8 pounders of Red Dot, four 8 pounders of Green Dot, one 8 pounder of HS-6, one 4 pounder of Power Pistol, one 8 pounder of Acc 1680, one pound of Alliant 10x. 69 pounds total = a good day!

Quite a score Here in RI at my LGS you would have only got 1 8 pounder at a time so everybody could get some. Buying everything on the shelf is why there still are no 22s to be had. If your a commercial re-loader that score is fine, but to just put it on your shelf to have it is wrong in my opinion.
    Sorry

The situation with component availability seems to have stabilized here. Prices are reasonable at the LGS, and he has everything I use and more, all in excellent quantities. He has seemingly stopped limiting purchase quantities, which leads me to believe that he is no longer having supply issues. I'm sure there are still local/regional shortages, but I would draw the conclusion that nationally, we're back in better shape.

I had my choice of: BE, Unique, Blue/Red/Green Dot, PP, RL15-22, 748, 760, 4350, BLC2, Varget, Universal Clays, and many, many more..... I picked up a few pounds....confident it will be there next time I need it. Sure hope I'm right!!

No need to be sorry dino, you live in America and your welcome to your opinion. There was a limit on the Red Dot and the Green Dot which are my favorite powders and that is why I did not buy 8 of them. The reason I do buy so much is that I am in a position to distribute to my fellow trap shooting buddies whom also like to reload. I have already transferred the two Red Dot kegs to them and will move a couple more pounds of Red Dot to another buddy next Tuesday. So the 69 pounds of powder I came home with does not all stay with me and because of that my buddies are keeping their re-loaders humming. I buy very little powder from LGS, most of my powder comes from a factory distributor. I believe that the current powder and 22LR ammo shortage is nothing more than price gouging by the manufacturers like the primer shortage and gas shortages of the past as there is always plenty once the price got high enough. Like it or not, this is the result of capitalism which is supply and demand.

So don't be sorry for your opinion, many here have the same opinion as you do and I am good with that. However I will buy enough in advance of need to keep myself and my buddies in powder should this powder shortage continue and not feel the least bit bad about it. I know that my buddies are glad I do it and they don't have to.

if the seller has/had no restrictions I'd say he had more in the back room to replace what was bought. [shrug]
I would have happily bought 4 more 8 lber's of red-dot [and probably another green-dot] and not thought nor worried about what anybody else thought.
it will be used, it ain't hoarding just to hoard, and it ain't for mark-up resale, what's to complain about.

All is good since your sharing the wealth. What pisses me off are the guys with their nose on the glass at Walmart at 7am for 22s that have them listed on gunbroker before noon.

I too don't like the gougers, like the guys at the gunshows that are selling 8 pounds of RD or GD for $179 each. 22lr is priced at 3 to 4 times what it used to sell for if you can find it. I have given boxes of 22lr to strangers whom I overheard talking about not being able to find ammo so that they could take their grandson/daughter shooting with the new 22 rifle they bought them for Christmas. My Walmart gets regular shipments of 22lr. but I have never seen it on the shelf. Those that buy it, know when it is coming in and when it is to put on the shelf and they are there in line to buy it. I have been told to not even bother coming in to get some as it is gone before my turn would come up in line. It's an "inside Job" if you know what I mean. I have heard from a reliable source that Federal is not running more than one shift in 22lr. production, thus helping to keep the supply low.

I don't add more than a couple bucks a sale to my buddies to help pay for the gas to pick it up. I'm happy, their happy!

That's normal price around here and has been for years. Did someone really make a remark about leaving some on the shelf so others can get their fair share?

My last two powder purchases were 16 lbs of IMR 4227, 12 lbs of Power Pistol and 16 lbs of Hi-Skor 800x.
Th 800x makes great 45 Colt (255 gr) loads and 85% max 44 mag loads, and also good 357 mag loads. The Power Pistol makes great midrange 44 mag loads and midrange 357 loads.

I'm glad so many handloaders hate 800x for its lousy metering (which is true; it's terrible) because that means there's more for out there.

I like unique for midrange loads in 44 magnum, ten grains and your good to go for most lead bullets. I bought a 15 lb. keg of unique many years ago at the big Tulsa gunshow and still have 9 pounds of it left. I wish they still marketed powder in 15 lb. kegs but the 8 pounders will work. If memory serves me I paid $75 for the 15 lb. factory sealed keg. Trap shooters burn a lot of powder.

been a dry spell on powders around here so when the lgs had some on my last trip to denver, I stocked up and it might sit on my shelf for several years but I don't feel bad about hording it after not having any for years. felt bad about spending so much money that I could use else where then the new shooting took place and now I'm glad I bought all I could afford because in a week you probably won't find it again for a long while.

Blue dot, longshot, and IMR4198. A great score. All I need now is one more 8 pound jug of 4350 and I'll be set 'till things settle down after the hillary panic of 2016. Unless lead becomes scarce during that time...
