Enamel painted boolits?

There is a youtube video ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ZJwiPvYxdc ) where someone coats boolits with Lowes Valspar Enamel.

Has anyone tried this?

It sounds like a preferable method to painting over Klass Kote since there is no mixing two parts or waiting 40 minutes for the two parts to bind.

You don't need to bake either, so your WD hardness can be retained.

If you watch the video again you will see he did bake the boolits.
I have some automotive that I have been tempted to try out coating boolits with.

While he did bake them, it is only to speed up the process. There isn't a requirement to do so.

This is different a enamel (though the results may be the same). This is regular paint in a can - where a $12 quart will probably last forever, not a smallish spray paint can.

This would be an alternative to Klass Kote, not ES.

This paint isn't expensive (nor is it VTH), it's regular, easy to find Lowes enamel.

"Slopping liquids" - please don't start your disparaging all methods not ES again. There are plenty of people using the Klass Kote method. This possibly could offer them a simpler, easier to find materials alternative, without having to wait 40 minutes for the KK to bind. Regarding the accuracy, there are those of us who aren't trying to shoot the head off of a matchstick, but rather hit a 8" plate or a IPSC target at close to medium range. ES might reduce a group by 1/2" at 25 yards, but I don't care.

While not positive, based on the rock hard KK coating I've applied, I'm betting KK (and possibly Valspar) could be used with softer alloy than PC. If so, there would be a very important void that it could fill as COWW's dry up and/or people seek to use up softer alloys.

I must be mistaken, though this thread was for exchanging ideas, not promoting one's pet method. As for me it's HF red dry tumbled . (My mind is made up PLEASE don't confuse with FACTS)

Gave this coating material a try. Painted some lee 155 boolits (2 coats), put GC's on them and went to the range (50 yards). Main purpose was to see if there is any difference in different GC materials (Cu, Al, Brass & Brass annealed). Velocities were around 1650 for all, Al gave best grouping @ 1MOA (5 shots and disregarding one flyer), second came in Brass annealed @ 2.5 MOA.

Rifle - Yugo SKS scoped shot with gas turned off
Boolit - Lee 155 gr. close to Lyman #2 alloy air cooled (about 14 BHN) coated with enamel paint (about a month lapsed after actual coating) and different gas checks as mentioned above, sizing .315"
Charge - AA5744 16 grains
Observations: The enamel coating feels soft (comes off if scratched by nail) as compared to PC, there was absolutely no leading at all in the barrel.
