Loads for 22 Bator in 22 Hornet

What are your favorite loads for the 22 Bator boolit in the 22 Hornet?

The major use of this load will be for coyotes. While I am interested in all your favorite loads, I would be especially interested in your loads using Lil Gun.

The sweet spot in my Ruger 77/22 is 7.2gr of lilgun
seated to fit in the rotory magazine,,,which is shorter than
a proper fit in that chamber

I am using 2400 in my hornet with the bator boolit. Does a fine job on coyotes out to 150. Sorry I don't remember the charge but the MV is 1850 fps and it groups at about 1.4" at 100 yards. With jacketed bullets of a similar weight, that rifle prefers 4198 powder at the same velocity.

I have had good results with 4.5 grains of 2400 using a gas check and Winchester small pistol primers.

I have also used 12.7 grains of 'Lil Gun withe the paper patched bullet. Both loads shoot between 1 and 1/2 MOA.

I just recently started messing with the .22 Bator in a Hornet, and found that 3.8gr. Universal Clays and a SP primer gives excellent accuracy (½"± @ 50yds). Might not have enough moxie for longish range coyotes, but the squirrels hate it. When the weather breaks (if it ever does) I plan on trying out other powders in attempt at 2000fps, and breech seating at .22LR power levels too. My barrel has an 8½" twist (pre-war German single shot) and a long throat and as such gives good performance with a few heavy bullets in the 55-60 grain range. The stubby profile of the Bator is a bonus for use in 'standard' Hornets IMO.

I never understood why relatively slow twists were 'standard' in U.S. made Hornets and other .22CF's for so long. Probably because of the carry over from initial ones having been made from .22 rimfire barrels. I guess too, speed sells, and high speed can't be achieved with heavy bullets in a Hornet so factories stuck with 40-45 grain bullets and the slow twist rates. I'm glad things are shifting.
