    475-400 Keith

I must not have paid attention to the nose length on this one. I cast and lubed a few hundred after work yesterday, and loaded 15. Now I see the nose just sticks out of the cylinder on my F/A. They have a trip to the belt sander in store just to get my brass back. Bummer.

Do you plan to use 480 brass to solve that problem or?

I think your old pal Lloyd has solved my problem. It seems they will fit in his guns just fine.

Went to the range today at lunch and shot the SRH 480 Ruger-7.5" barrel
Best I could do with the GB 475-400K was 2.0" at 50 yds with H110-23.0gr, dont know velocity.
I tried Blue Dot 18.0gr- only so-so accuracy.

Yeah, me too, but you gotta keep trying to do better, it's the only way to improve.

I was geting a lot of out of round boolits - everyone else seems happy with the moulds - well, I found my problem -

Them bigg boolits hold heat a LONG time. I have to really slow down (or use 2 moulds) else they go out of round after they drop from the moulds.

Filnaly got some so I could test some loads - Have to wait a while though - I go back in the hospitial tomorrow for another heart Caht - still have some blockage they have to take care of.

See you all when I get out.

I've had trouble with out of round boolits too. Tweaked the pins a bit. I hope that solves it. Loaded up and shot a couple of hundred rounds in my .475 BFR this weekend ahead of 16 grains of HS-6 and a WLR primer. Was getting groups around 1.5 inches at 50 yards. I'll have to try it on deer come December.

Thank you Lloyd - Back out already - Found problems - but the risks are too great to fix them. Getting another opinion.

Wildcat - my problem was not the pins - It was that I was dumping the boolits too quick from the mold and while they seemed hard enough - they weren't. I did a test and the first 3 sets and the last set came out fine (after cutting the sprue, just set them down while I reloaded the pot and generally getting ready for the next session then I dumped the last set).
24 great bullets - all that I cast in between were out of round!

I am prepping the second mould I bought and will just use both.
    Fill
    Do BruceB
    Cut Spure
    Swivel sprue plate back
    Set it down
    Pick up other mould
    Dump it
    Start over

I will see if that will work. Just using one I get too impaient and go too fast.

Didn't work. First few pours are fine, but it must be the heat of the mould and un-even expansion.

    I don't know.......

Right now I am left clueless!!!!

I found a decent load for the SRH 480 Ruger.
    Surplus # 107 ( Blue Dot) - 16.0gr = 1100 fps, 2- 2.5" at 50 yds with Leupold 4x scope, a consistent load.

    FWIW

From the FEW good ones I got:

13gr Unique, CCI LP, Star Line Brass - Right at 1100 = 2in at 33 yds with stoc sights on a BFR

Same Gun - 13.5g Unique - slightly better and a little more MV.

Either load works, at least for short range. I am going to try some (15 left) with 13.5gr Unique at my gong at 110yrds and see what they do.
