Try just the brass itself, fill with cold water and place a teaspoon of cream of tartar (grocery store). Tumble overnight or for 6 to 8 hours.

    - BoolitBill you have to be kidding!
In a Lortone Rotary Tumbler, 2x6 lb barrels with 2mm ceramic polishing media - Strat-O-Sheen burnishing solution and a squirt of Dawn Concentrate ...
I can clean out and inside black powder spent cases, bright and shiny, that were under salt water from Super Storm Sandy in an Hour to Two Hours
And here's an example of the cleaned brass:

I have an older Thumbler's double drum tumbler. I just use some corncob media with what came with it, and it works great. Just did two loads; about 200 .32S&WL, and about 150 assorted range brass from my trip to the range. all but three have very shiny coats. Those three were nearly black, and are now dark brass. I'm happy with mine. Stays on the front porch, and is quiet in here! Maybe not state of the art, but it works!

John Boy, your cases look beautiful. Better than factory fresh! I was just trying to give gandydancer another option. He had said that his SS pins and citric acid cleaner did clean them well but not much shine. My thoughts were use something that he may already have in the kitchen cabinet and not spend much more on things like ceramic polishing media. The cream of tartar does work to shine up the cases but the down side is that it takes a long time to get that shine. I usually load my tumbler before going to bed and empty it in the morning. I apologize for stepping on anybodies toes, I was just trying to come up with a simple and cheap solution. But, you do have my interest in the ceramic polishing media. If I may ask, where did you buy the ceramic media?
