    45-70 Wickliffe

    Just pick-up a Wickliffe 45-70 in Deluxe Grade #017xx this has not been fired, has anybody had any experience with them?

    I agree !!! don't see anything soooooo ... cant suppose to reply to a post that I cant SEE ... ...

    I have read about em ... but never had the privilege of ownership. they are suppose to be as strong as Ruger #1's and ... in my Hornaday book they are listed for the same loads as the Ruger.

    seriously tho ... need photo's to drool over!

    i had one in 7mm rem mag......it shot great ....was just to heavy for me..

    Here’s one I just had to buy in .357 Max. Rebored from .223 Remington. A bit overkill for a .223.

    I know Elmer tested one in 45/70 back in the 70’s and he was impressed with it!

    Yes. I have one that was originally a 300 WM. I had John Taylor rebarrel it with a takeoff Badger BPCR barrel and rechamber it to 40-50 SBN.
    Only drawback, is it doesnt have a tang,and I forgot to have John add one so I'm gonna have to attach the back of the tang sight to the wood for now.
    The stock doesn't have enough drop and it is hard to shoot close range with a tang sight.

    Mine looked just like yours Newtire !!
