I haven't tried it yet but Veral Smith told me a 10% solution of Elmers in distilled water works well.

Just curious about it. Thanks for your replies.
... half a tuna fish can of water and 1 oz of milk (another ounce or so does no harm)
Have tried nearly all the patch liquids and find that the milk solution grips better to the bullet during the roll, drys tight and ... there is no adhesion of the paper to the bullet when I test by taking off a dried patch
Regards
John
That's interesting, John Boy.
Can't say I've ever seen that recommendation before. What do you lube the patched bullet with?
Think I'll have to try this. I just did 80 rounds today, but they won't last all that long. Next time around I'll give this a try.
Russ...
When it comes to Muzzle Loaders, Black Powder Matters.
Just my opinion, it's free and maybe worth less....stickin' the patch to the bullet does not serve the God of Accuracy well for wrapped patching. Separation of patch from bullet is part of the waltz. Water works well, leave the gooey stuff elsewhere.
Dang it Dan! You took the words out of my mouth. BvT
Every lawbreaker we allow into our nation, or tolerate in our citizen population leads to the further escalation of law breaking of all kinds and acceptance of evil.
Since almost all aspects of our cultural existence are LIBERAL in most states, this means that the nation is on a trajectory to dissolution by the burden of toleration and acceptance of LAWBREAKING as a norm, a trajectory back to the dark ages of history.

Beggin' a thousand pardons Mr. Whack.
Note the absence of paper. Bullet abuse committed by a deer.
Heck with that bullet D. Dan. What did you put on that wood? BvT

It's a touch of 60 year old lacquer I guess. Funny what a little magnification shows huh? Saw a gun on Gunbroker.com once that had a finish like that. Mother of Pearl too.
